This link will be included in each daily report when the Nashville Sounds are scheduled to play. Normally it is updated a few hours prior to gametime.

Nashville Media Notes (Adobe .pdf format):

***

We're going to include the link to Kraig McNutt's Nashville blog in the same post as the Nashville media notes link going forward.

Kraig's blog is a must-view tonight, fun stuff with Tommy Lasorda, a cute little fan in Nashville, Brendan Katin's HR and Erick Almonte's walk-off single, all on video.

***

"Voice of the Rattlers" Chris Mehring's informative and entertaining Rattlers Radio Blog includes game notes an hour or two before gametime.

Mike Roberts must be one athletic dude, transitioning to the outfield, specifically center field, from catcher -- he'd be a good pre-game guest if he hasn't been one already (hint to Steve Wendt), and how about TheCrew07 with these audio captures, huh? Outstanding!
Helena's play-by-play voice Steve Wendt helps us out --

Interviewed Roberts on July 4th, sorry it got missed. He said that he was proud of the fact that he could play both positions and thought that other players respected his athleticism because of it. He talked about how much he's grown as a player but also a person in just one year. He also discussed that he was really frustrated by being sent down (from a brief stay at Brevard) but talked with Rene Gonzales and was told that he will play here and have opportunities. He and Gonzo have a terrific relationship.

News from Brevard:

Tonight's game between the Clearwater Threshers and the Brevard County Manatees has been postponed due to heavy rain and wet field conditions. The game will be rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, July 9. Both games will be seven innings, and the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM (4:00 Central).

Not that Rottino is any great prospect, or ever was, but he's been disappointing this season given he was better in his previous 2 stints in AA than he is now. I was hoping he'd perform well enough to get a shot someplace... As far as tonight's game goes, you'll see the E in the box score, but he actually double clutched the throw before letting it go, it was a ball he should have eaten given the double clutch.

Chris interviews Dan Merklinger about his fantastic performance last night in the rain, his career thus far, and the baseball program at Seton Hall. I didn't realize so many quality big leaguers have come out of the program.

Steve interviews catching prospect Shawn Zarraga. If you have the time, this is a must listen, what an amazing story of how he ended up playing baseball in the states. They discuss catching, Shawn's path to professional baseball, Aruba, that Shawn is Tri-lingual, and Shawn's following at home. How the Brewers end up with so many great stories in the organization is truly amazing.

Scarpetta his given up 1 hit, a 2B, which Sanchez and Lawrie erased trying to stretch into a triple. He just K'd 2 more hitters in the 5th.

In Nashville Green and Littleton aren't exactly setting the world on fire tonight, Nashville with just 2 hits losing 8-0 in the 5th.

Huntsville has come back to tie the game at 5s, Lucroy also has a 2B in addition to Green's excellent night at the plate.

Helena scores 2 runs in the 1st, up 2-0 early.

I would love to see him and Peralta in Brevard before the end of the minor league season.

His walk totals are also relatively down. Since June 7th (6 outings and about 24 IP), he has 7 walks and 29 strikeouts. 77 SO/30 BB on the year.

Huntsville's pitching just horrid tonight, the Stars are now down 9 to 5. Much like Dillard, I'm not sure I like the idea of trying to recycle pitchers who stunk as SP, had success as RP, and putting them back in a starting role. All it's doing is backing up the train of legitimate prospects coming up the chain.

Wisconsin wins 1-0, Scarpetta and Nieves each allow 1 hit, nice defensive plays by Lawrie (ball up the middle), Kemp (staying on the bagon Lawrie's play) and Sanchez (sliding catch) in addition to the play where Sanchez/Lawrie erased the runner stretching a double helped the cause.
