This is an important and winnable game. It would be nice mentally to leave Wrigley with a split, even if it doesn't mean much in the long term.

In all 3 of Burns' ML appearances with us he has given up more FO than GO. Last game was the closest split 7-11, while his previous outings were 3-11 and 2-6. Lets hope the wind is blowing in, lol.

A split would be very nice, but even a loss today wouldn't be the end of the world if they can turn around and take care of business against St. Louis again.

Hilarious point Prince. We probably have two pitchers in Gallardo and Hoffman more deserving than Lilly too...yet only a 2 1/2 game lead.

 

I know the Hall posse will be out today, but McGehee & Counsell both have knees hurting and will need some days off. A LHP is the best spot for a fill in for Counsell.

For what it's worth, Derrek Lee's probably the most All-Star worthy Cub, but got caught up in the numbers game when it comes to NL first basemen. I think he would've had a better chance if this year's game was in an AL park and they could add another first baseman, even though that would bring the total up to 5.
