Nervous, but excited. The Cubs' chances of winning the division pretty much rest on their next two series (they face St. Louis after this IIRC), so these games are almost more important to them. The pitching match ups aren't in the Brewers' favor, but considering the Cubs' problems scoring runs lately, I think they have a good shot of at least getting a split. It'd be nice to win the series, but even a series loss wouldn't be a huge blow...it'd just be really irritating thinking of Len Kasper's overly-excited Kermit the Frog voice if the Cubs managed to take the series.

Actually, the Brewers play StL after this (Cubs play ATL, then StL), but that's beside the point. Can't really say their chances rest on those series. If they go 3-4 or 4-3 over that stretch, nothing really changes. Even if they only win a game or two, pretty much their chances rest on ARam's ahoulder and Marmol's arm. If those two aren't able to play the second half effectively, the Cubs are done. If they are, they have a grat shot, almost regardless of what happens in the next 10 days (assuming of course they don't go 1-9 or 0-10).

I'm predicting a huge series for JJ. Somewhere along the lines of 9/10 for 21/24 with no less than 3 home runs and 7 rbis. He's looked much better at the plate lately and has a career average over .300 at Wrigley. It's July, which means it's JJ time!!
Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

Maybe that's why I had Cards on the mind. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I knew the Cubs play the Cards before the break, but spaced on the dates.

Hopefully McClung has some success tonight...if he could go 5, I'd be happy. If he can work into the 6th and save an inning from the bullpen early in this series I'll be thrilled.

Edit: Cubs lineup, per NSBB...no Soriano tonight.

I don't care if Soriano's hitting like Bill Hall right now, I'm just glad to see him out of the lineup.

The MLB Network broadcast will not be blacked out will it? I hope not, looking forward to hearing Matty V and Plesac call the game.

I think it will be in the Milwaukee area. As I recall, a Brewers game in San Francisco earlier this season was blacked out. And I recall seeing an MLB Network promo for a White Sox at Reds game that said it would be blacked out in the White Sox home market so I'm thinking that also means a blackout tonight in Milwaukee.

I think the Cubs fans I've talked to are putting way more pressure on this series and the upcoming Cards one than we are, but they're also more positive they can take 3 of 4 than most of us are. I'm not worried about this series more than any other. Pitching matchups don't determine everything. We're not playing on top of our game, but either are the Cubs, so this series is completely unpredictable for my money. (That said, I am worried about how bad we might look against the Dodgers.)

I fall with naivin. Assuming the Cubs, Card, or the Crew don't implode over these next two weeks, the season doesn't rest right here for anyone. For the Cubs, their season hinges on if Aram can come back healthy, that has way more to do with their season then this stretch.
