Well, I'm a little surprised that inning wasn't bigger for the Mets--good work by Jason there, I like to see the old man nail them stealing.

How egregious was the fan interference in terms of turning a single to a double? Most times it seems like they'd be doubles regardless or maybe more.

Would it have been a double without the fan interference? Uek didn't say.

Yes, but it's not really the point. She probably wasn't even paying attention, looked towards the field and saw the ball coming and decided to go after it.

Yeah, Castillo was already motoring into second by the time the fan touched the ball. Braun was still a few steps away and kind of stopped when she flopped onto the field, but there wouldn't have been a play at second.

Can't say I agree with Macha letting Yo hit here, even though his next start won't be until Tuesday. Too many high pitch count outings for him lately, and if he's working with a blister or something I'd want to get him out of there.

This is the type of thing that pisses me off. Gallardo should not have to throw another pitch this game. How many times are we gonna let him throw 1115-120 plus pitches. Lets remember Gallardo missed most of last season and lets preserve his arm.

and fans are automatically ejected when they interfere. I talked to a guy who picked up a live ball that bounced off the left field wall and got wedged between the wall and cover along the 3rd base line. He said he realised what he did a moment too late, and they escorted him from his seat, but they eventually just told him to grab a seat in the loge level to watch the rest of the game, since it would have likely been called a ground rule double regardless.

pelfrey on the other hand has a low enough pitch count to work towards a complete game... that is unless we tattoo him one of these innings.

A couple double plays will do wonders for a pitch count apparently.

I like Yo going out. He can put a quick inning together and be done just under 120. Not that big of a deal. I don't know why it always becomes a big deal anytime a pitcher goes over 100. When is that the "set in stone" line that you cannot cross?

100 pitches is only significant because it's a nice round number, however remember that Gallardo is coming off a season in which he only pitched 24 innings. This year he's gone 100+ pitches in 13 of 15 starts so far. It might become an issue later in the season or it might not. In games like this I think you can leave Gallardo in, but Macha has also left Gallardo in with 100+ pitches and a 4 run lead.

Ugh...why the heck would you even try that bunt again? That's going to look really bad if Hart eventually gets on.

Edit: No, wasn't a straight steal. Hart squared up to bunt but took the pitch, Fielder got caught too far off second base and tried to advance to third when Schneider threw down to second.
