I can't wait for this game to start, partially because listening to Tim McCarver on FOX for the Cubs/White Sox game is driving me nuts. He just tried to argue that everyone should swing at the first pitch because the league is hitting .330 when they make contact on the first pitch of an AB.

Bring it, Big Seth. We know you have it in you.

Ennder, are you saying there's still a chance it'll be Lincecum on Sunday? I'd like it to be otherwise, I think.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Yikes, lets reign this in. Keep the score at 2-0, or at maximum try to only give up one more here.

I know this isn't really a game thread type post, but Mark DeRosa is NOT in Cleveland's lineup tonight and was seen making several phone calls prior to the game. People in Cleveland are speculating he's been traded. How much you want to bet if he's been traded it's to STL?? That would be typical.

McClung to the rotation. What a disaster decision. Thanks Doug Melvin for giving Macha these crap options for a rotation.
Who exactly would Melvin get? You do know that no one is available right now other than comparable pitchers. Even in the off season there weren't that many better options that the Brewers could afford that were available. But McClung is not a starting pitcher he is a relief pitcher and a relief pitcher only. McClung is just way to erratic to be a starting pitcher he just can't keep his pitch count per inning down.

"McClung to the rotation. What a disaster decision. Thanks Doug Melvin for giving Macha these crap options for a rotation." Doesn't it seem premature to judge McClung after 3 innings? Also, Melvin didn't make Bush get injured or have Parra blow up. I actually give him credit for stockpiling extra starting pitchers--McClung, Burns, Wright, Dillard...

Stockpiling extra AAAA talent doesn't get any credit from me. But, just an opinion. The rotation was weak coming into the season, injuries and suckitude made it even worse. If you think Melvin did enough, I have to disagree.

They did offer about as much as they could to CC and also made an offer (arbitration???) to Sheets. Thank goodness Sheets turned them down given that he was hurt and would not have pitched, at least to this point in the season.

Thank goodness CC turned us down as well. His contract could very easily have been franchise crippling. We would have even had to pay him in a couple down years when we will not have much for hitters.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I don't know that I have the answers. There were 60+ pitchers on the free agent market. Wolf, Garland, Perez, Moyer, Burnett, Lowe, Johnson. There are some still unsigned, Armas Jr, Byrd, Shawn Chacon, Adam Eaton, Chuck James, Jon Lieber, Loaiza, Mulder, Perez, Redman, on and on. Off-season trades from positions of depth, outfield, SS, 3b. I guess I'm just a bit frustrated that DM seemingly sat on his hands and thought signing Looper was enough. Who knows, maybe contracts were offered to every guy on this list and they turned the Brewers down. It just seems like management has thrown up their hands and said, "This is the best we can do". "If somebody goes down, well hell, we've got Narveson and Smith to push us to the playoffs!" There may be no easy answer, but I dont think they were as active as they could have been in the off-season for a glaring, and I mean GLARING need. It's even more evident now and still I see sitting on the hands. "Well, gee...nobody's selling." Come on DM. If you blow somebody away for an offer, they'll sell. You may have to overpay, but you put yourself in this situation when you failed to properly rectify it in January/February when you went to camp blindly thinking your rotation was strong enough to get by. If we were a 70-80 win team, I wouldn't mind. The problem is, our offense lets us be around an 85 win team with an average rotation. Gallardo, Parra, Loooper Suppan, Bush is not an average rotation, IMO. There was one glaring need and DM didn't do enough.
