This is really annoying. With Gamel not in the lineup tonight, he will have only started 22 of 39 games, six of those games are at DH. It's really a complete waste of his service time to have him up here. If you don't trust him on defense, send him back down so he can work on it in games, everyday while also getting regular at bats.

Couldn't agree more. Everytime I see the lineup and Gamel's not in it, I feel cheated.

Start McGehee at 2nd and Gamel at 3rd, Counsell shouldn't start this often. He should be a super-sub and nothing more.

Yeah, I agree. Witrado says that "with McGehee hitting so well, it's tough to bench him right now" which is hard to argue with, but why wouldn't you start him at second against a righty? The issue was brought up against Baker yesterday and I agree that if we have to choose between left-handed bats with McGehee hitting so well, I'd choose Gamel over Counsell.

At least the lineup doesn't look as bad as San Francisco's. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Hard to believe that they're a serious wildcard contender with that lineup, but I guess that's a testament to how well they've been pitching.

As much as I like Craig Counsell leading off, Gamel has to be either starting or in the minors. It looked like Mat was starting to heat up, but after a few days of riding the pine, I doubt he will have retained any of that momentum.

McGehee should be starting everyday at 2B, Gamel everyday at 3B. Counsell should start 1-2 times/week at shortstop unless Hardy remembers that he's good at baseball.

This is a pretty big series in my opinion--I've been watching the Giants all year and I don't think they're gonna go away in the wild card race. I don't think either us or them will actually make the playoffs unless either team deals with some sizeable holes via the trade market, but it's still a bigger series than I expected on Opening Day at AT&T Park.

(Can't wait to wear my Cerveceros' t-shirt around town tomorrow!)

Macha is starting to annoy me a little more every day but I put the responsibility for Gamel playing on Doug Melvin. Sitting Gamel on the bench is inexcusable. Counsell has had a nice season but Gamel needs to play every day or play in AAA. I am shocked that Doug would let Gamel rot on the bench this way.

This game has the makings of a 2 hour pitchers duel. Looking forward to watching this match up of two of the best young stud pitchers in all of MLB. Hopefully Gallardo can get a little run support and shut down the Giants offense and pull out his 8th win.

Now that you say that, it's going to end up being a 17-15 five hour game.
As long as it's 17-15, not 15-17. I just finished a crummy work week and my spirits could really use a happy Brewers ending tonight.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Here is what I don't get. We say we need to win now and we can't play players based on salary or past results. We hear constant complaints when someone is held out of the lineup when they are in a current hot streak. Yet we need to play Gamel over a hot Casey and Counsell combination? I just don't get that. Gamel just played a bunch this past week with interleague and he has hit "ok". But I wouldnt say that it was good enough to say that he needs to be in the lineup everyday. We need to stick with the guys that are doing well not only at the plate but are also good in the field. Gamel will get his time. A little patience is what is needed right now. We need all the guys that are hitting in the lineup. We don't have much excess offense so we need all we can get.

Don't they usually list the home team score last? Are you saying you want the Brewers to lose?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I'm really digging how Yo managed to settle down after that Sandoval home run. He's gone back to having his usual good control tonight, and that pitch Sandoval hit out wasn't even all that bad, it was just bad luck. Hopefully he can keep it going and get through 7 innings without much of a problem.
