Those two runs also swung the win probability by about 30%, with Guerrier and Nathan in the 8th and 9th for the Twins. They probably hold onto a 3-run lead in that situation at least 95% of the time.

Anyway, I agree that Burns mostly acquitted himself well (prettier than any recent Parra outing at least), and Smith has been pretty intriguing. Can't say I'm too eager to see Narveson in anything but mop-up any time soon, however.

Ugh. Now Cain and Lincecum coming to town--can't wait to see the bats try to turn it around versus that.

Last night FSN showed a graphic that had the pitching matchups as Gallardo vs Cain, McClung vs Zito and Suppan vs Sanchez.

The absolutely awful play in June continues. Mediocre ~.500 teams, facing mediocre pitching, much of it at home!, and we can't even rise to the meager challenge. Just pathetic baseball for four straight weeks now. Utterly disappointing. We look nothing like trade deadline buyers right now....

*sigh* I really used to like it around here, but this is out of control controlling.
I feel the same way. He made a perfectly valid and very good point about a decision by the manager and his decision to put the worst pitcher in our bullpen in a one run game. I mean if we're cracking down on posts like that, why even have a game thread?
I should apologize and clarify...I thought his points about Narveson being in were perfectly fine, but it was his last statement that made me say it "toed the line". He didn't break any rules, but I didn't appreciate the insinuation that the game was over. In retrospect, I should've kept my mouth shut and handled it privately with bklyn, and I should've refrained from making the second comment that IGTs aren't meant to be vent threads (that comment wasn't directed at anyone in particular, just an observation about the IGTs in general lately).

In summary: no one's getting punished, no one's cracking down on IGT's, everyone is more than welcome to discuss things they don't agree with, and thankfully interleague play is done.

Hopefully a return to playing NL teams (that aren't on crazy long winning streaks) lifts some spirits over the next few weeks. I'm really excited for that Gallardo/Cain showdown tomorrow.

Dealing with it publicly or privately is of no matter. The issue is that you felt the need to deal with it.

He's a moderator, it's his job.

The moderators here are the ones that keep this place from devolving into the maelstrom of jsonline. The rules about "game over" posts in IGTs are pretty clear here, whether you agree with them or not (I personally don't, but it's a small quibble for such a great well-run site/forum).

Huh, I saw Lincecum on Sunday on Yahoo today but the Giants' website confirns that Lincecum goes Monday against the Cardinals and we get Sanchez...a huge swing of a break for us.

I was at this game, and was pretty much behind home plate in the second row (my dad had these great seats as extras, go figure). FWIW, Burns appeared to be getting squeezed quite a bit the whole game. Braun also seemed like he got a raw deal on that last strike out. It did seem to be a weird and inconsistent strike zone the whole game.

The Giants are staying with their 5-man, and thankfully had the day off on Thursday. Although it gives us Cain, the Brewers will miss Lincecum. I can't wait to see tonight's game. Good chance of being a dandy!

Regarding in-game comments, there is a certain amount of fun at jsonline that can no longer be found here. It used to be here, but there are too many mods now. Granted, there is a lot of maelstrom at jsonline. But I have no problem blocking that out. NSBB also has the fun factor in in-game threads. They have a more liberal moderating approach that would suit my needs. The only problem is I hate the Cubs.

I do think the "post patrolling" has gotten a bit out of hand around here lately. Not just in the IGT, but in general on this forum. If people really think some of the "one liners" or off hand comments are bad here, I don't think they frequent too many message boards on the internet. I think there can be a certain level of leniency on this forum without things devolving into being like the JSOnline blog. I guess I think maybe people should just scroll past the posts they don't like without feeling to make a comment about how it's "out of line" or whatever. If it becomes a consistent problem, then it can and should be handled, but I don't think people should have to walk on egg shells in order to post around here, either.

Considering the umpire crew, that isn't surprising at all. We had the umpire crew of death this series.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.
