Too Many OFs - possible destinations

The Pittsburgh writer is wrong when he speculates the Brewers would want "little in return" for Jenkins.

If that was true, he'd have been traded by now. Melvin doesn't give away players for nothing (that's why he tendered Mench), particularly to divisional foes.

My favorite part of the Post-Gazette article:

"For most of this offseason, Littlefield has focused on LaRoche...He has done so to the point of telling agents who represent hitters through free agency that the Pirates will make no move until they know for certain if they can land LaRoche."

Yeah, that's like me phoning Keira Knightley and telling her to be patient and not start dating anyone new, because my divorce may take a while.

"So if this fruit's a Brewer's fan, his ass gotta be from Wisconsin...(or Chicago)."

According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, it's possible the Padres will acquire Geoff Jenkins to play left field.

The Brewers would eat some of the $7.5 million they still owe Jenkins in order to move him. Still, the Padres don't have a lot to give up in return. This is one trade possibility in which Scott Linebrink's name should not surface.

For now, the Padres plan to go with Terrmel Sledge in left field while using Jose Cruz Jr., a switch-hitter, against certain left-handers. However, a trade for Brewers outfielder Geoff Jenkins remains possible.

I think Jenkins could have a good year. I hope they get something for him if they have to pay some of his salary.

"Mench and Hendrickson (he is a MN boy) for Crain (Canadian I think...) would be good enough for me..."

Yeah, that's the package I've been mentioning to people as well. It makes sense for both clubs. Actually, the Twins would probably be the clear winner in this deal, so they might go for it. God knows they could use some starting pitching depth.
