2009-06-19 Brewers (Looper) at Tigers (Galarraga) : 6:05 PM CT [Brewers lose, 10-4]

Only a 30 minute window? Macha should of pulled his guys off the field and left the stadium.
That'd be a pretty foolish move and a forfeit.

I don't understand this mentality that there is something wrong with a shortened game, but nothing wrong with wiping out the first 4 innings.

The Brewers should have let Narveson pitch one pitch, then bring in a reliever, then keep doing. I'm half joking. I know it would be bush league, but this situation is a bit ridiculous

Just keep walking batters until the rains come. Shouldn't be too much trouble.

I think that they should play if they can, but a 30-minute window doesn't seem like enough to warrant starting the game again. That's how I feel.

The situation sucks, but let's remember that if it were the Brewers that were up 7-4 we'd be saying how a 30 minute window is more than enough time to play a few innings.

There is also no certainty about how long they will be able to play. If the weather.com hourly forcast is to be believed there is a 70% chance of light rain for the next hour and then 80% chance of tunderstorms after midnight (eastern time).

I don't think anybody would have a problem if the Brewers actually got to use all 27 outs, but that's not likely to happen tonight and that's crap. If that means stopping the game tonight and resuming with the same score tomorrow, that's fine. But this rule is complete crap. We're down three runs, we're hitting the ball well, we have a good bullpen so we might be able to stop the Tigers offense and we're not even going to be able to use all of our outs.

Let's say you just completed the 5th inning and you're down 3-2. They could call the game with your team only down one run with 12 outs to make up that run. That's a bunch of crap.

There should be better rules regarding this.

That's good. I hope we get enough time to put up some runs. The game will have to be suspended if it's tied when it starts raining, so we just need 3.

I agree with this. I don't understand the rules for rain-outs at all. I don't get why they can't just suspend any game where it is, and just resume play on a different day if need be no matter what. That's the fairest way to do it.

Gamel looks lost. Every time up he Ks. Back to AAA.
1) Except for his first AB tonight.

2) That called third strike looked like a ball to me.

But yeah, overall, he's been struggling.

I really shouldn't be watching. I'm got 3 hours of sleep last night and am dying right now, plus I'm on the east coast, so it's after 11:00pm for me. I'm so dumb.

I'm in the same boat. There were bad storms last night in Wisconsin that I'm sure prevented a lot of people from getting enough sleep. But yet, we continue to watch. I can barely keep my eyes open. I had to deal with storms and waking up at 5.

Ok, that bizarre DP convinced me to do what's right and go to bed. With two kids, it's not like I can sleep in like I used to, either. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we come back for the W.

Well I didn't mean it literally but he's striking out A LOT it seems.

Inge triple... Rain?

That's a double play I don't think I've ever seen before in 30 years of watching baseball.

Regarding the rain issue, I don't particularly like the rules of less than 5 equals no game and 5 or more is a completed game. But I also don't have a problem with the umps trying to get as much in as possible.

counsell hit a ball pretty hard that just got flagged down by the first baseman. was hard to tell if he caught it clean or not (from a runner's perspective) so JJ was pretty much a dead duck as he was forced to run with Kendall at first.

force out at second, JJ tagged out by the third baseman

i'm letting the girlfriend watch tv while i follow on gameday. What happened on the dp?

2nd baseman caught it on a short hop and threw to second base for a force. JJ was not sure if it had bounced or not and was tagged out between second and third.
