2009-06-19 Brewers (Looper) at Tigers (Galarraga) : 6:05 PM CT [Brewers lose, 10-4]

I think a game can be declared official if 5 inngs have been completed & play has been stopped. But you can't play 3 or 4 inngs stop play & resume play to try & get 5 inngs in the book. Some special rule that you got to play at least 6inngs if such a scenario occurs

I don't think that is correct. I have never heard of such a rule and I don't see it in rule 4.10 here: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/start_end_4.jsp

Here are what appear to be the applicable rules:

Rule 4.12(a)(5)

A game shall become a suspended game that must be completed at a future date if the game is terminated for...Weather, if a regulation game is called while an inning is in progress and before the inning is completed, and the visiting team has scored one or more runs to take the lead, and the home team has not retaken the lead

Rule 4.12(b)(4)

Any suspended game not completed prior to the last scheduled game between the two teams during the championship season shall become a called game.

So, in addition to the rain continuing, it looks like we want them not to be able to continue this game this weekend. Of course, then they might have to tack it on to the end of the season if it's meaningful, which could suck.

According to FSN, game will start again at 8:30. However it is still raining and there is lightning in the area. Huh???

It appears they are trying to get through another inning and then call it.

They probably said they would have an update at 8:30, which they did.

If the game doesn't go a certain amount of innings the previous results are wiped off of the books. This happened earlier in the year. So if this game doesn't get continued tonight it never existed. If they decide to replay it it will start from inning 1 no matter when they play it.

If I were a drinker, I'd start a game where you drink every time FSN goes to Telly Hughes and he replies, "Thanks so much, Jeff" (or Davey or Craig or whoever).

The Weather Channel's radar looks like there might be a window of opportunity, but the NWS Detroit radar...not so much.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

The important part about the rain out rule that dlk9s posted is that this isn't a regulation game at this point, so that doesn't matter. It's still possible this game is just thrown out altogether like the St. Louis one was.

I spent a lot of time with the rain out rules during the St. Louis rain out! :D

I have Cabrera, Granderson, and Fielder on my fantasy team. that's 6-8 with 3 HR and a ton of RBI
I have Fielder, Hart, and Granderson, who have a combined 39 pts, which I don't wanna lose. Especially since I'm playing the first place team.

Yeah.. except for the fact that the REAL team is losing...

Just because I want my fantasy team to win doesn't mean I don't want the Brewers to win too. I just want the game to continue.

Problem is that Detroit may be able to make the call on whether to resume the game. Since they're winning, they may want to continue and try to get 6 innings in, so they get the win.
If the Umps call them back out simply for the purpose of getting 1 more inning in and it's still raining, I'd be pissed. Would rather the Umps not risk player safety playing in the rain when there both teams have an off day on Monday. If I were Macha and they tried to call me out in anything more than a drizzle, I tell my guys not to take to the field in protest.

Cliff Lee would look very nice in a Brewers uniform. Throw in DeRosa too!
Agreed. That's what I've wanted for at least a month now. I hope Doug gets on that soon.

I think the missing puzzle piece is Victor Martinez.

Upgrading our C "situation" makes us AL-powerful. Probably'd have to bat Fielder 5th.
