Jeff Weaver heading to Seattle?

AJAY

Considering how well Weaver pitched for the Cardinals last year down the stretch, this could be a huge loss for them.

This article also says . .

The Cardinals, operating under the premise that they are out of the running for Weaver, will not attempt to acquire another starting pitcher, a major-league source said.

I am very surprised by this. They have already lost Suppan too.

Is Mark Mulder expected to be ready to pitch when the season begins? Or will he need more time to recover from injury?

Does anyone know if Jason Isrinhausen will still be with the team? I know he had some inury issues and was performing poorly last year. The fans were really booing him.

The Cards' pitching situation makes them sooooo vulnerable. I know they have LaRussa & Duncan, but come on. This is getting ridiculous.

Any Redbird fans care to weigh in? You must be pulling your hair out at this point. I know every season can bring a surprise young guy, but man! I can't believe they've backed themselves into a corner like this.

I think alot of it is that they had a bunch of guys have semi-career years (or post-seasons, in Weaver's case) in their walk year, and they just decided not pay them big money because they probably knew they weren't worth big money. Voila! Weak pitching staff after Carpenter.

I believe I read somewhere that Isringhausen may miss April, depending on how his hip surgury went. They'll be evaluating him in Spring Training, which starts in 20 days for most teams! YAY!
