MLB's Adam McCalvy:

Triple-A Nashville tweaked its pitching rotation Monday, and recently demoted lefty Manny Parra will make his Minor League season debut Wednesday, a day earlier than originally forecast. He will be pitching one day short of regular rest, but he worked only 1 2/3 innings against the White Sox on Saturday. Nashville projected its next five starters, and Mike Burns wasn't in the group. He pitched seven scoreless innings Sunday, and he is a candidate to join the Brewers when they next need a fifth starter on June 27.

June 16, 2009: Game notes

Because Cody Adams is likely still on a limited pitch count, it's not probable he'll go five innings. If the Rattlers can forge a lead, there's a good chnace Meadows could move his record to 11-1 tonight.

BC up 1-0 in the first. Rivas has now pitched himself over a 3 to 1 K:BB ratio... whatever is in the water in BC, they need to send some of it up to WI for the T-Rat pitchers. Gindl with another hit... It would be nice if Wheeler would bust out of this month + slump he's been in, he's a better than what he's shown so far. As red hot as Schafer was before his call up to AA, he's been a wee bit cold since coming back.

It's not so much what's in the water, but the water that's in the air.

Braun is an offensive and defensive upgrade! It is odd though that he's not in the lineup.

edit. Of course I mention Rivas and he promptly walks 2 hitters and gives up 2 runs, bah.

Nice call Carnac, but with 8 hits given up in 3.2 innings it certainly is arguable that he deserved it.

Final: Wisconsin 8, Burlington (Royals) 6

Wisconsin Site Game Summary

Meadows' 11...and Henderson's 17

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

BURLINGTON, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers outslugged the Burlington Bees for an 8-6 win at Community Field on Tuesday night.

Brock Kjeldgaard hit a big homer while Michael Marseco had three hits and two big RBI for the Wisconsin offense. Reliever Daniel Meadows was the beneficiary of the offense and picked up his eleventh win of the season. Rattlers closer Jim Henderson took another step to the franchise single season saves record by recording the final three outs.

The teams traded runs in the first two innings. Wisconsin (32-33) scored a first inning run on an RBI grounder by Corey Kemp. The Bees scored a first inning run on an RBI grounder by Eric Hosmer. The Rattlers scored a second inning run on a wild pitch by Burlington starting pitcher Sam Runion. Burlington (27-38) tied the game on an RBI grounder by Antonio Jimenez in the second.

Michael Vass put the Rattlers up 3-2 with an RBI double in the top of the fourth. Jose Duran crashed in to Bees catcher Jose Bonilla to jar the ball loose and score the run.

Meadows relieved Rattlers starting pitcher Cody Adams with one out in the third inning as Adams reached his pitch limit and got the final two outs of the third, but a two-out RBI single by Fernando Garcia in the bottom of the fourth tied the game again.

Wisconsin grabbed the lead again with a three-run sixth inning. Duran and Vass singled with one out in the inning against Burlington reliever Justin Garcia. Steve Braun was next and sent a potential inning-ending double play grounder to third base. However, the throw to second was wild and Duran raced home to score. One out later Marseco doubled to chase in two runs and Meadows was up 6-3.

But, getting the win wasn't easy. In the bottom of the sixth, Meadows was hit for a leadoff single by Bonilla, an RBI triple by Jimenez, and an RBI single by Juan Rivera and saw his lead cut to 6-5. Meadows retired the next three hitters to complete his night of work with the team still in front. His pitching line on the night was 3-2/3 innings pitched, three runs allowed on eight hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Kjeldgaard padded the Wisconsin lead to 8-5 with a towering homer to left-center. Kjeldgaard's tenth homer of the season followed a one out walk to Chris Dennis.

Rigoberto Almonte relieved Meadows to start the bottom of the seventh. He got the first out, but a walk, a single, and a throw to third had runners at second and third with one out. Bonilla drove in a run with a grounder, but Almonte struck out Jimenez to end the inning with the Rattlers up 8-6.

Almonte rebounded nicely in the bottom of the eighth inning and struck out the side in order.

Henderson closed down the Bees by striking out the side in order in the ninth for seven consecutive K's by Rattlers pitching. Henderson is 17-for-17 in saves in the first half and is now tied with Aquilino Lopez and Chad Wiles for second on the franchise single season saves list. John Thompson of the 1995 Timber Rattlers holds the saves record with 19.

The final game of the four-game series in Burlington is Wednesday night. Efrain Nieves (2-4, 6.35) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. The Bees will send Mike Lehman (2-2, 4.81) to the mound. Game time is 6:30 PM.

Wisconsin Box Score

27 combined hits; only one fly-ball out vs. Rattler pitching -- ground balls and K's; the two Michael's, not Mike's (Marseco and Vass) with three hits apiece; no Lawrie is odd, we'll wait until Wednesday night...

Sounds Come From Behind to Beat Express 5-3

NASHVILLE-After trailing 3-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Nashville Sounds scored five unanswered to beat the Round Rock Express 5-3 on Tuesday night at Historic Greer Stadium.

Brendan Katin and Joe Koshansky each hit home runs to lead the charge for Nashville.

Round Rock took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning on three consecutive singles off Sounds starter Chase Wright by Reggie Abercrombie, Tommy Manzella, and Brian Bogusevic. John Gall added the second run on another single, followed by a bases loaded walk that gave Round Rock a 3-0 lead.

Pinch hitter Erick Almonte improved to 9-for-20 (.450) on the season with a leadoff double in the bottom of the sixth, but was stranded on second base after Express starting pitcher Yorman Bazardo retired the next three Sounds hitters to get out of the inning.

Koshansky ended a streak of 17 scoreless innings for the Sounds with his 12th home run of the season, an opposite field home run in the bottom of the seventh that trimmed the Express lead to 3-1.

Express reliever Geoff Geary came into the game to relieve Bazardo in the eighth and allowed a leadoff walk to pinch hitter Michael Garciaparra and then a Jason Bourgeois triple to center that gave the Sounds their second run. Alcides Escobar tied the game at 3 with a sacrifice fly, scoring Bourgeois, followed by a Katin two-run homer to centerfield that gave Nashville the go-ahead 5-3 lead.
