Napoli available

According to mlbtraderumors.com, the Angels are making him available in a trade.

Getting Napoli would be awesome. Last year he hit 20 HRs in a little over 200 ABs. He is on his way to another 20+ HR season this year. My understanding is that he is not considered a great defensive catcher, perhaps a bit below average mostly due to his recent shoulder surgery. But he has a very solid bat, and has an OPS this year of .829

I think Napoli would be a great person to target in a trade. He gives us another solid middle of the order bat, and bringing him in would limit the amount of starts that Kendell would get. He has two more years after this season before he becomes a free agent, which would allow us to slowly bring our young prospect catchers along.

The only question is, how much would Napoli cost? Strangely, it seems the Angels organization is not as high on him as his career .850 OPS would lead you to believe that he deserves. Perhaps a swap of Napoli for Salome would be good for both teams, as Salome would be an option as a DH if he can´t cut it at catcher. We would certainly have to add another mid-range prospect to the deal.

What do you all think? Is there a match here?

I like trying to get him but I don't see it happening. From all appearances, it doesn't seem like the Brewers think there is anything wrong with how Kendall is playing so I doubt they see the need to upgrade, unfortunately.

I wish they did see something wrong. Napoli has unreal power. He just deposited a ball WAY back into the LC bleachers at AT&T Park. Branyan-esque shot. Yes, I said that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Adding Napoli over our current C situation would just make us sad as fans that we put up with this woeful production for so long. Man, can Napoli drive the ball. If the Angels would look at a deal involving Salome, I'd pull the trigger on that in a heartbeat.
