So you go to J.J. and they go to a RH reliever. So now you have a .238 against RH hitter up who is slumping badly and hitting .219 overall.
Not if he hits for Counsell. They just brought in a lefty, and he has to pitch to one batter.

Is it 1 batter or 1 pitch? Just curious.

Well here we go, Brauny. For whatever reason this year I haven't been confident in him in big situations like this...please prove me wrong.

I'm with you there. Maybe the expectations are high, but his clutch hits seem few and far between this season. I have no idea if that's really true though.

Well, considering I was figuring out whether it was going to go Hart DP followed by a Counsell K or a Hart K followed by a Counsell DP, I suppose getting one there was something.

That run lost on the ground rule double looms larger now.

Be nice to see Villy get a nice inning in here.

Well, who didn't think this was going to happen when they coughed up that opportunity.

I thought they might have a shot in the 8th and 9th if the pen locked it down in the late innings as they've done until recently, but we're about to get swept at home by a NL West team with a losing record.

Well, a NL West team with a losing record who's riding a hot/lucky streak this past week, maybe related to the managerial change...but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

Just a stinkbomb of a series against a team that's obscenely hot right now. It would definitely stink to get swept in this series if they don't make a rally in the last two innings, but hopefully they can respond against Chicago in much the same way St. Louis has responded to also getting swept by this team.

The crowd still sounds vocal and boisterous. It must be 75% school kids.

Oh, and you could figure Prince would get a hit to lead off the 8th.

Edit: It'd be nice to see a different Manny get rocked on the mound...

Braun has an .646 OPS with 2 outs and RISP on the season and an .542 late and close and an .791 in high leverage situations so you aren't imagining things. These are all so small for sample size that it really doesn't mean anything though, over a 10 year career they almost always just even out.

Let's get a couple more here, guys, and keep things interesting for the 9th. Gamel's still hitting the ball hard, which is good to see. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him get some starts against the White Sox, even though they're throwing a couple lefties at the Brewers in the series.
