Starting to really dislike what I've seen out of Macha this past week. Hall has proven he can't hit RHP, Counsell has proven he can't hit LHP, those are splits that are real and matter.

Stop going with goofy small sample size splits instead.

You've gotta be kidding me Macha. He's been making just some unbelievably bad moves lately.
Lefties are hitting .346 against Embree this season.

Lefties are hitting .389 off him this year... in 20 PA. You are going to trust a 20 PA sample over a career one?

I agree with the move not to PH for Counsell - you PH Hardy for Catalanotto because you've already burned Hall. That way you get to keep Hart in the game in RF, and possibly Hardy at SS without running the risk of running out of middle infielders.
I disagree. You pinch hit for Counsell, because Embry has to stay in for one hitter. By the time it gets to Cat, they will simply bring in a righty to face the pinch hitter.

I don't. We had the matchup in our favor. One of our righty hitters going against the lefty. Now Macha is deciding to use Cameron and Tracy can now bring in a righty reliever and the advantage goes back to the Rockies. Just bad managing.

No, it's .346 in 29 PA's.

It's as if Macha sees who's warming up in the Rockies' pen and decides to give the Rockies' reliever the best chance to get an out. You have to hit Hardy for Counsell in that situation, because as it was said earlier the lefty has to pitch to at least one batter. give yourself the best chance to open up the inning! instead, the 3 righthanded pinch hitters today (Hall, Hart, Cameron) all faced right handed pitching - something none of them excel at.

So you go to J.J. and they go to a RH reliever. So now you have a .238 against RH hitter up who is slumping badly and hitting .219 overall.
Not if he hits for Counsell. They just brought in a lefty, and he has to pitch to one batter.
