Promotions/making room for the draftees

LouisEly

Post your predictions of roster moves in the next couple of weeks to make room for the draftees and/or guys in Helena from last year's class.

I don't see many position players moving, except eventually possibly Dennis to A+ to make room for Davis if he hits well in Helena. Can't think of anyone still at Helena that should be in WI. Dennis may go to A+ if/when Komatsu comes back. Maybe thank Parejo for his services and move up Wilson.

Ritchie, Henderson, and either Meadows or Scarpetta from WI to BC to backfill for Anundsen, w00ten, and Axford to AA; outside chance of Rapoza because of age, possibly Mercedes. Arnett and two pitchers assigned to Helena to backfill in WI. At Huntsville, Bucci back to Helena, Cody stays in AAA, one of McClendon/Hand, possibly Baron to AAA; possibly thank Holliman for his services or assign him as needed. At AAA... what the heck, leave Butler there until he proves he can't handle it, then maybe back to AA; give Littleton his walking papers.

Arnett has already pitched over 100 innings, 108 I think. If he's pitching in WI it will probably be out of the pen. I don't see him starting.

You forgot Periard who's working out with WI though an official roster move hasn't been made yet.

I think for this exact reason there's a good chance Arnett spends significant time in Helena piggy-backing to make sure his arm is brought along slowly. I don't think it's is a given that any of the players debut with the Timber Rattlers. Kentrail Davis is probably going to take a while to sign, possibly as long as the August 15th deadline. Jon Pokorny would be the one player I think could get moved up fairly quickly, but I don't think we will see a series of moves to accommodate the draft picks. It's not like the team drafted 84 pitchers like they did last year, so it should be easier to make everyone fit on the two rookie clubs.

If it weren't for Lawrie (unless he gets moved up to BC, which isn't likely since he isn't even playing right now), I would say there would be a good chance Mike Brownstein would be moved up to Wisconsin. Otherwise I think the Helena lineup could be fairly college heavy this year with him, Prince, Khris Davis, Richardson (who could go to Arizona), Stang and Dalton, and possibly Krieger, Fatse and Sizemore as well depending on who ends up signing from the later round guys.

So with so many college kids headed to Helena, where does that leave Lintz, Romanski and Odorizzi ? I can see Odorizzi going to A ball this year, but I doubt they would skip Lintz over Helena. an Romanksi was hurt most of last year wasn't he?

Seems like a pretty big group of HS pictures from last year's draft colliding with the college pitchers from this year's. What is the roster limits for Helena and AZ clubs? 25- same as others?

edit-spelling: Why can't we draft pitchers named Smith or Jones? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Actually, 35 on the rookie levels, although the Brewers have rarely, if ever, had that many bodies in the dugout at Helena. Arizona, yes.

And remember, AAA and AA is 24, not 25.

Does anyone else feel like we are about a half a season from an explosion of prospects.. between the expected promotions from Brevard to Huntsville and the return to health of Rogers and Braddock and the influx of young pitchers from last year's draft and power arms from this years I am starting to get a tingle like when Prince, Hart, Weeks, Hardy, and Braun where going through the system but on the pitching side..

24? Why wouldn't they keep it the same as MLB? I suppose having 35 at the rookie levels does help, but there still is only one ball... I have a feeling that we will see the Brewers keep a lot more HS kids in AZ this year.

Lintz will be in Arizona again this year. Odorizzi will be in Helena.

I expected Lasker, but we're new territory with the DSL, with the those players gone there is a greater need to fill both R rosters. He's got plenty of time being a HS draftee.

Really, Lintz is getting held back in Arizona? That's disappointing. Everything I'd read until now indicated they'd both open the season in Helena.

Yes. Lintz, Lasker, and Billings will start back up in AZ. I expected at least two of the three to be in Helena, especially with Krestalude getting the call to Brevard. We'll see how the season plays out.

wow this could be the first time in 2 or 3 years that we may have a competitive Arizona team! Disappointed that some of them are going to be staying down there but thats a pretty good staff they have and I cant wait for Lasker to get out there.

My dream for promotions would be for the Huntsville rotation to look like this by the end of the season:

1. Jeffress

2. Braddock

3. Periard

4. Anundsen

5. Jones

maybe Rogers if he starts to work up into the 7 inning or so and is still dominating

thats just a dream though im guessing. I'd also like to see Schaefer back up with the Stars and get Dennis up to A+

(Is Cain going to be able to play at all this season?)

So where are the promotions? I figured once Huntsville and BC clinched that we would see some guys bumped up. Am I being too impatient here (they both just recently clinched)? What's the hold up?
Yeah Im hoping to see Braddock, Anundsen and Wooten promoted soon.

After a few more draftees sign to backfill the lower levels, I'm hoping to see some more promotions. AA could see a huge influx of pitching talent. Periard will soon finish his rehab in Appleton and Anundsen, Rivas, and Rogers are all deserving of a promotion. To make room for them at AA, Butler and Hand could move to AAA.

Its exciting to see our pitching prospects succeed.
