We can trade Hendrickson for...

Jeff Cirillo!

Seeing as how Koskie hasn't been cleared for baseball activities yet - I can't see anyway he plays ever again.

He had a slight case of whiplash that has set him back MONTHS. Even if he gets to the point where he feels fine - what doctor would clear him seeing how such a small incident could trigger a much bigger concussion for him. Stick a fork in him - he is sadly done.

So, I think most aren't to thrilled at the idea of Graffy and Counsell platooning at third. But I think Graffy and Rillo would have been adequate to hold the fort until Braun got his call up.

I just can't get over the irony that we lost Rillo because he wanted to get more at bats. And here we sit looking for a 3rd baseman!

Since Hendrickson is a VERY long shot to make it out of camp - Do you think we could get a better platoon player to match with Graffy?

How I see our options right now...

Counsell and Graffy

Sign David Bell (he can't cost too much and played alright)

Or trade for a 3rd baseman. (Could be Jenkins that goes too)

Of course, IF Koskie never plays again - it helps clear up our logjam of position players, since we will have an extra spot open.

I really doubt the Twins will want to trade Cirillo, especially for a AAAA "prospect".

I wouldn't mind terribly if they re-signed David Bell, cheaply. He's OK offensively and pretty good defensively. If Koskie doesn't make it back, he'd be a fine option.

Bell isn't a bad option for a stopgap at all, I would say he might match Graffy's offense, and Bell certainly seemed to be a plus defender. Considering Braun appears 3 months to a year away, Bell, or someone like Bell, may be what we see, should Corey not be able to go.

As for the original post, it contains so many inaccuracies, I'm not going to dignify it by trying to correct them all.

Bell may be the only answer left unless we can make a trade. Concussions are a funny thing and I hope Koskie can bounce back. Signing Bell to a one year deal is not a bad thing as if Braun or Koskie come back later in the year we can likely still get a prospect for him then.

If the Twins want him, they can have him for nothing as far as I'm concerned. Send him back home - probably the second best scenario to dropping him on a division rival

I agree, maybe they could use him as a batting practice pitcher if no one will give up a bag of used eye black markers.

Ben has been almost as effective as any AAA starter who has not got many big league starts. He could well have some value as a reliever as well. There seems little way he would ever clear waivers, and might be claimed by 5-10 teams, depending on when waivers would be asked.

I think he may well be packaged like Krynzel was, as an addition to a deal, but make little mistake, there's a market for guys like Ben. Right now though, you're not going to get much for him.

Nashville needs pitchers also. Why run him out of town. He may never pitch again in the majors, or maybe he will break through. Who knows. But he has at least been a great minor league pitcher and will have a job in baseball for a number of years yet. More than most of us here at Brewerfan can say. If you can trade him great. Maybe he makes the club out of spring training, probably not, but so many of us are so quick to write him off like he has no value. I wish I had been fortunate enough to be in his position when I was 26 years old.

But Ben H. is out of options, and after 9+ seasons in the Brewers system (drafted in '98) , would most undoubtedly not resign a minor league deal with the Crew, would he not be claimed on waivers.

Edit: Wow, I think that sentence is a triple-negative somehow...
