What would it take to get Brad Hawpe?

Colorado is probably looking for some way to play like 5 outfielders a day and they are not doing too hot.

He is a left handed bat that plays RF. The contract is pretty cheap so I can see them not moving him. He is signed through next year with a club option for 2011 that he can void if he is traded. My question is- does anyone see him getting on the market and what would it take to get him if he does?

I would be worried about what they would ask for him since he is having such a great year. His home/road splits for his career are actually not as bad as I would expect .901 OPS at home and .862 on the road. This year his OPS at home is an insane 1.247 and a still very good .908. At the right price he would look good over Corey Hart, but if he is on the market I am guessing the bidding from certain teams would get higher than I would like.

Hawpe is the worst defensive OF in the game...yes, even worse than Dunn.

Bad, yes. Worse than Dunn, no. He has a better arm than Dunn, a slightly better FP, plays RF and you have to give him extra consideration for playing in a bigger outfield in Coors.

He makes a few McClouthesque "I'm too slow/can't read paths well enough to get to balls, but I make up for it by diving on what should be a routine play" type catches. But he's really a gold glove DH.

You can not be the biggest fan of UZR and still recognize that if he rated at -23 and -37 the past two years, and -6 so far this year, he probably has less than stellar range. He cancelled out his hitting value entirely last season.
