2009-06-05 Non-Brewers IGT: De la Rosa (COL) 6.2 IP, 3 ER, 7 K at STL

TooLiveBrew

Through 6 IP, here is De la Rosa's line:

4 H, 1 R (1 ER), 1 BB, 7 K, 1 HR, 79 pitches (52 strikes)

Oh yeah, the game is at St. Louis & the Rockies lead 11-2 now after Jorge surrendered a leadoff HR (second of the game; other was by Pujols) in the bottom of the 7th to Yadier Molina on a 3-1 pitch.

Just got a grounder to the 1B Helton, & Jorge didn't get off the mound, so it's an IF single. Big brain fart for Jorge. That should/could have been the inning.

Ankiel laces a 1-R 2B to the RF wall, Pujols to the plate with runners at 2B & 3B... 11-3 Rockies. Still 2 outs, bot. 7th. De la Rosa now up over 100 pitches, and that's it for him.

Final line:

6.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R (3 ER), 2 BB, 7 K, 2 HR

Hmm...assuming no changes to a 5-man rotation for the Rockies, JDLR should be pitching in Milwaukee on Wednesday, our next game. Last year I saw him get, um, rocked.

But I'm glad he's done well tonight.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

And on his double Ankiel was pointing at & taunting/jawing at JDLR, running to 1B. What a moron.

The gap between Cards' fans perception of their crap-head team & reality is shocking. What a bunch of classless losers.

I'm sure his taunting was completely classy and used the perfect Queen's English...or he was drunk and couldn't help himself.

PHI's Raul Ibanez flashes his superior range & ability with the leather at LAD in the bottom of the 7th.

I hope that one makes the highlight shows... wound up a 2B for Furcal. To be fair, the ball was hit well, but not only did Ibanez track the ball poorly & fail to execute the catch, he looked like he got a case of the wall-yips to boot.

I know you guys really don't care about the Cubs but an interesting thing happened in Cincinnati tonight. Carlos Zambrano, after striking out left handed against Micah Owings in his first at bat decided to bat right handed in the 4th inning and hit the first pitch just right of dead center over the 404 sign for the second run in a 2 - 1 win. His 100th win BTW.

I saw that, too...I also saw Kevin Gregg nearly blew another game. The Cubs' bullpen right not reminds me of the Brewers' two or three years ago, when Turnbow was still a prominent part of the pen and no lead was safe. Peeking at NSBB, it's no wonder they're starting to get worked up over there.

I do think the Cubs will be dangerous once Ramirez comes back from the DL, though...they're starting to find ways to win games with what little offensive production they're getting, and I don't expect Hendry to sit on his hands much longer.
