2009-06-05 Brewers (Gallardo) at Braves (Jurrjens): 6:35 PM CDT [Brewers win, 4-0]

Memo to Bill & Brian:

That last hit by Gamel was not just some cheap hit that should have been caught. That would have taken a very good play. Because they were playing him to pull that hole was open. Plus the wind looked like it killed it

Where is everybody lately? These game threads have been dead all week long. This matchup is living up to the hype so far.

Honestly, for me the Hall, Hart, Parra, etc. bashing has been too much. If I wanted to read those type of posts I'd hang out on jsonline. The IGT hasn't been up to it's usual constructive self which has been a bit of a turn-off. Yo really needed that easy inning...awesome.

Yikes...not a very good bunt by Yo. I'm still a little surprised they've managed to rack up 4 runs against Jurrjens and the Braves haven't been able to do anything against Yo despite his control problems. Hopefully it keeps up, though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

On the topic of the Hall and Parra discussion, let's keep the game thread focused on the actual game being played. There are threads in the Major League forum to discuss Hall and Parra, so unless they're playing in the game, (constructive) discussion about those players should probably go there.

I remember not being impressed with McLouth in the field during that late-September series last year. At least the Brewers will face him less now.

I've overcome my Powell grief and have the Braves audio feed on. Jim has sounded a bit subdued tonight (granted, I connected just as the Brewers were scoring runs 3 and 4).

I am embarrassed to admit that I was unimpressed with the 'color' radio guy...then realized it's Don Sutton. I didn't think his voice was so high pitched.

Time for brats! I'll aim to be back later.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Yo's just under 100 pitches after that inning...you have to figure that he's just about done, especially considering how hard he's had to work for those 7 shutout innings. With the bullpen reasonably rested, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone else on the hill for the 8th.

Edit: Guess not...can't say I'm a huge fan of trotting Yo back out for the 8th when he's already a few pitches away from 100, but hopefully he can get through this one quickly.

OK...I know I harp on the HD thing a lot, but this has me perplexed. Tonight's game is not in HD, but tomorrow's is...then Sunday's game apparently is not. I'm sure there is some logical explanation (probably somehow money related), but I can't for the life of me figure out what the reasoning is.

You're not the only one, Schlitz. I don't mind counts in the 100-110 range, but once he gets over 110 I start to sweat.

Yo did a great job tonight even though he didn't seem to have his usual pinpoint control. Finally a very good starting pitching performance that should alleviate worries about the bullpen for the rest of the series. As Brian and Bill noted, both Burns and McClung should be able to go tomorrow if needed.

There's a rule that at any given point, there has to be one poster who is obsessed with letting everyone know how much they dislike a player. It's a disease. Although fatal for some, others have been able to eventually fight the illness off and have fruitful lives at BF.net. Only time will tell.
To be honest I think it is just the democratic way that when someone identifies something they feel is wrong or dumb they feel a need to change it or keep pushing until it is changed. You may disagree with what they feel is wrong or how they address it but I am glad they are passionate about it or there really wouldn't be a need for BF.net. Of course if this turned into nsbb I wouldn't like that either I think for the most part there is little for anyone to complain about on the type of posters compared to other blogs / boards around the net. Just got to jsonline a couple of times and you will realized who has a disease.

So why not Hoffman in the 9th? He hasn't worked a lot recently.

But may need to work the next couple. Also while I don't agree with only using him in save situations he is 41 so why use any mileage if you can avoid it. Remember how Torres wore down last year?

Great win, considering how poorly things went in Florida the past four days. It was sure nice to get through a game without worrying about a possible rain delay. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Gamel really looked comfortable out there today, so hopefully he keeps it up. It'd be great if he caught fire and the team had two lefties who were hitting really well...now all we need is for Braun to get on one of his hot streaks and we'll be in business. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Yo is young, I think he can handle the pitch counts. Good not to see Hoffman, Villy slammed the door.
The concern for me is that if the season goes into October that is so much stress for his arm at his age. Verducci brings up numerous examples of how you pay for it the next year. With a 4 run lead I may have let Chris Smith pitch an inning tonight.
