Is Mark Teahen in our crosshairs?

Recommended Posts

I think he could be available, because of Gordon being on his tail in the very near future (if they don't already consider him as ready). Who knows what kind of GM Dayton Moore is, though? They have some other decent prospects at the corner positions - Billy Butler, Chris Lubanski, maybe Mitch Maier and Justin Huber, so he might feel like he is well enough protected at those spots to trade Teahen for a nice package of players. But, he might also think that since they are not a high revenue team, he should hold on to as many of his young/cheap/good players as he can.

Unless they get young/cheap/good players in return. If we didn't have Ryan Braun, I might see the point in going for him, but the fact that we only need a half or one season stop-gap I wouldn't pay the price it would take.

I see Teahan staying for a while unless they get over whelmed with an offer.

Butler and Lubanski are two corner guys that they like, but Lubanski has not lived up to his first round selection yet, and for a while know Butler was suppose to force his way onto the field with his stick.

I dont know if "just a guy" is quite true. the guy has a career minor league ops of around .800 and a major league uptrending ops of .774. if he repeats his numbers of last season(.874 ops), people will be talking about him as one of the premier young mlb outfielders. the cost for the brewers to have any shot at acquiring him has got to be way more than we would be willing to pay(see all threads relating to carl crawford or just read as one yo gallardo).

Teahn should be moved but the Brewers should not be the ones pursuing him. He's nice at 3B but realy just a guy in the OF.

his strength is his defense at 3b. In the AFL, he was having problems with his back all spring. He's a big guy (tall), so perhaps the back issues could be a recurring thing. He's a line-drive hitter who should hit .275+, draw walks, and believes in situational hitting and doing the little things. He likely will never hit more than 15 or so homers.

He raked for a bit last year after initially stalling. The question I have is why they don't use Alex Gordon at first, as he was originally relegated to first at Team USA by Ryan Zimmerman, because of Zimmerman's defense. But as for a trade for Teahan, I think the Royals would have to be blown away right now by a deal, as they have two young cornerstones (Teahan was obtained, originally, for Carlos Beltran) and no true need, financially or otherwise, topusue trades.

I understand that, but I figured with Mike Sweeney always being rumored to the BoSox, that Shealy would then shift to DH. But let me guess, Billy Butler? I doubt we'll see him for at least a year.

UWRyan, they are actually trying to put a team on the field that can hit. Gordon is a young guy and I think he is average on defense and will make up for that with his stick.

They actually have a lot of sticks that play corner spots and need someone to step up and move to a new spot and produce.
