Well, looks like Manny's going to be forced to at least get through this inning considering the bullpen situation. Hopefully they throw the tarp on after this half inning and don't take it off the rest of the night.

Man I am all for patience but Manny might need to catch a flight to Nashville. He just nibbles so much, looks like he doesn't have a ton of confidence and appears to lose focus at times.

Perhaps the Manny Parra experiment should be ended. ERA over 6.00 now. Even a Suppan start is more encouraging.

I completely agree. I would like to see him in the bullpen, hopefully we can pick up a SP to replace him in the rotation.

This is just Manny being Manny. he's terrible and has no business being in this rotation. Melvin can't replace him soon enough IMO.

 

Over the last 14 months, a significant number of fans have called for Bush, Suppan and Parra to be replaced ASAP. Call me crazy but I think sometimes fans are a little too quick to call for player's heads. Parra has been terribly frustrating this year but I don't think it's time to pull the plug on him.

I don't think they should pull the plug on Parra and take him out of the rotation either. He will have his stretch of good games and there simply is no better options as a 5th starter. I do think he should be the main piece that gets us Peavy, though. I don't think his value will get any higher and his lack of maturity, I fear, will keep him from ever being the pitcher we hoped he could be.

I don't think a lack of maturity is the problem. It's the fact that the only pitches he can place in the strike zone are fastballs down the middle.

Well it looks like they're going to try like hell to get through the 5th inning so they can just put the tarp on after that and call it if they have to. I suppose if we can't get this game thrown out by not playing 5 I wouldn't be opposed to a 5-inning loss...at least it would give the pen a day or rest.
