G1 Google Phone - Apps?

So I just bought a T-Mobile G1 phone, and there are a ton of apps, but I have no idea what rules, and what sucks. Does anyone else own this phone and know which ones I've gotta have, as well as what seems cool but sucks in practice?

 

Also, if anyone has general recommendations and tips for the phone, that be appreciated as well.
