Phillies might need a catcher, how about Rivera?

Well theoretically at one point they had interest in an OF as well. I'd love for the Brewers to spin a two for one deal and get a pitching prospect of some caliber or a passable bullpen arm possibly.

Coste is expected back this weekend. Barajas is the starter and he's healthy.

There are teams that could use a backup a lot worse than the Phillies. Astros and Yankees come to mind.

The problem is that nobody is going to trade for Rivera. If they want Rivera, they'll just wait and claim him on waivers.

They guy to trade is Miller.

If you get two teams that want Rivera, you now have demand... I think a trade is still possible.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I don't know if teams are going to trust him enough to be a starting catcher (which his salary somewhat dictates) or if a team rich enough to carry that kind of backup catcher would want him.

The Yankees might be a good fit, though....

a Rivera trade would be a great idea. maybe that's why he hasn't been put on waivers yet because DM is waiting for something. i could see a team with a low waiver position waiting, but a high-waiver team knows they better get him by trade if there's any chance to get him.
