Well, credit to the Cards--they got it done today when it counted and we didn't. Overall, they came in pretty banged up and left town with the division lead--we're lucky we weren't swept.

(Strange strikezone today, by the by)

Bummer. Rest up and hope the bats come around against Cincinnati. Looks like the Reds are coming into the series a little battered, too, so maybe the Crew will be able to capitalize. It's still May, and the Brewers still have a wildcard lead.

You guys have 48 hours until you need to be back at the ballpark. Use them wisely.
For a split second, I thought you were talking to bf.net posters who are going to Friday's game (like me and, apparently, Invader).
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

For some reason today's loss was really hard on me. What a heartbreaker. I really thought JJ was going to at least tie it up. He was hot today and 4/7 career off Franklin going into that AB. Man I hate losing to the Cards. At least Pujols did nothing again and had a big E-3

In his blog, TH explains the non-bunt by Gerut in the 9th.

From the way TH makes it sound, Macha would have preferred to bunt but didn't feel Gerut could do it. I'm not sure if this is the case as Macha didn't come out and verbally say so word for word, but if so my question is if you don't feel a guy can get down a bunt, why is he up there to begin with?

I'd rather see Hart (who's a pretty good bunter even when he's not hitting anything) or even a pitcher (Suppan?) who can get the bunt down in that situation, especially with the slow-footed Rivera batting next. If Macha was simply saying he preferred to go against the book and play for the win instead of the tie at home, that's fine. If that's not the case, I find it a bit unsettling Macha would use a guy he didn't have faith in to do one of the little things to help a team win. That said, the sentiment Gerut wouldn't be able to get down a bunt is probably right as Gerut has a whopping 4 sacrifice hits in his 1749 major league plate apperances, but that again leads to the question of is he the guy to use there?

I don't mean to be nitpicky or second guess, I just think the article got me riled up a bit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
