What a courteous bunch of losers the Brewers were in those days. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I was at the game today. It was awesome, what a great pitchers duel. I don't think I have seen one that good in person before. It was incredible to see the Brewers all "run off" the field and not even celebrate. Talk about stirring the pot even more against the Cards.

Sunday's edition of the Journal-Sentinel had a story regarding the 50th anniversary of Harvey Haddix's 12 perfect innings. That thought was in the back of my mind today.

Hall hit the ball well, but from where I was sitting I thought the CF would make a play on it. He caught everything hit to him today. Breathed a sigh of relief more than joy when the ball landed on the track.

I was at the game and noticed as well the team quickly disappearing into the dugout. I see I wasn't the only one.

Bill Hall Wins Games = Bill Hall Redeems bensheeps' Commitment To Keep Wearing Hall Retro Jersey. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I and a few other bf.netters took in this game from the Dew Deck, which was an interesting angle for one game - not necessarily where I'd want to sit regularly. (Meanwhile, the 14-year-old girl using one of our ordinary terrace tickets to attend her first MLB game won State Fair tickets. Who says the family section never pays off?)

When I first saw a red-capped Brewer throwing to Jason Kendall before the game, I seriously thought to myself, "Why on earth is a Cardinal throwing to Kendall?" before remembering the special cap. That was unnecessarily confusing. Make the "unity" element the stars and stripes logo - don't have teams wearing the opponent's color.

The relentless fielding efficiency of STL always makes me want to paraphrase the Simpsons: "Aye, 'tis no men, 'tis remorseless baseball machines."

Today's Game Day Program mentions the 6/16/1997 Burnitz 9th inning walkoff home run (so obsessedwithbrewcrew is correct). We were also at that game, and although the win came 14+ years too late, I enjoyed it enormously.

Finally, as the game ended, it was surprising to finish high fiving fans around us and look to the field to find it empty of Brewers. I think it's awesome, though. Wasn't an idea similar to this mentioned in an IGT last week? Yes. Yes, it was.

I'm looking forward to watching the FSN replay with my shirt untucked.

Edit: I forgot to mention the nice touch of the stadium crew playing "Jump Around" before the bottom of the 10th. Of course, this reflects my UW-Madison background, but I think it's an excellent way to get Wisconsinite sports fans fired up.

Hawing's call about the Hall jersey is dead on. She is also correct that the Dew Deck was a nice experience once.(of course the company was good... after Hawing quit threatening to call the usher on me)

Watched the DVR'ed finish of the game after returning home and got another chuckle of the "celebration". Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing another win tomorrow night to see what the team comes up with then.

Great game, I was in attendance. One thing though...who the heck was out in LF starting the wave during the 8th inning of a tie game, with 2 outs and 2 strikes on Albert Pujols? That is textbook not wave time, if there ever is a time.

And your Cardinals fan quote of the day:

"I really really wanna cuss right now, but respect to the Board. Shirttails again. We just can't beat these guys, even with 9 inning shutouts. Arrrggghhhh"

I saw that as well, and I'm glad you posted it here. It made me smile http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.

I was proud of myself today, because some knob 4 rows in front of me (I was in sec 116) yelled out "HEY WE SHOULD START THE WAVE RIGHT HERE" in the 9th inning. All I said was "NOOOO!" firmly and he said "SHUT THE **** UP!" and sat down.... then I realized that I actually prevented a wave from happening at a crucial moment in the game, which earned a couple fives from the gentlemen behind me.

McGehee has done a nice job for the Brewers, but epic fail in that AB. Can't get the bunt down, can't make contact on a hit and run, and strikes out looking.

I don't know why you're blaming McGehee in that at bat. Sure, it would've been nice if he could get the bunt down on the first pitch, but not everybody does, so McGehee is hardly alone in that and then with a 1-1 count he had to swing at a horrible pitch and just try to foul it off so Counsell wouldn't get caught stealing. I can't blame him for not making contact on that pitch since it was so awful.

If you're going to blame someone, blame Macha for putting on a hit and run in that situation.

Beautiful sarge!!! Throwing off all of your equipment at the foot of the umpire is fine, but can you believe he untucked his jersey before he got to the dugout?!?
So, that was earlier in the 2008 season (before the four game sweep in July). I wonder if STL thinks the whole untucking thing was developed to mock Yadier Molina from that temper tantrum shown in the link above.
