Matt Holliday

The A's are stacked with top end pitching talent. As appealing as Braddock is, it doesn't address their biggest issue - Shortstop. With Cardenas most likely to stay at 2b and Orlando Cabrera putting up an OPS of .593, the A's should be looking for a better option in the very near future.

I realize they just drafted Grant Green, but he's probably two years away from making an impact. He also may project better at 3rd.

I have no idea if this is even feasible, but some combination of Holliday and top end pitching for Hardy and Hart would seem like a pretty good deal. I have no faith in Hart improving his OB%, something Holliday has always excelled at. I think the trade off of Hart and Hardy's offense for Holliday and Escobar's offense would be a wash for the present, and a large improvement for the future.

What people seem to forget, is that we will get prospects in every trade we're forced to make for payroll reasons.

We're all pretty sure Hardy and Prince will be on other teams by 2012. Just trading those two should net us quite a few prospects.

2012? Just thinking about 2012 makes my brain hurt. I know a lot of guys are up on the prospects and the minor leagues and all, I just can't force myself to worry about the MLB Brewers roster as it looks for 2012 when it's June 2009.

Sounds like the Cardinals may be going after Holliday, which is slightly worrisome.

Sucks to be Rasmus then. I wonder what Rasmus did to LaRussa to warrant another OF to be in the mix in St. Louis. The Cardinals already have Duncan, Ludwick, Ankiel, and Rasmus as OF. Granted they could just move Duncan to the backup 1B role but that leaves very little time in the OF for Rasmus who needs to be playing nearly everyday like Gamel should be. If the Cardinals do this trade they woud be severly hampering Rasmus development if they keep him on the major league team.

This move would be a lateral move at best for the Cardinals and I don't see why they would make this move. The Cardinals don't need another OF they need someone who can play 3B. Mora or someone like that would make more sense than another OF which is already crowded. Only way that OF gets less crowded if they trade for Holliday is if they trade Ankiel away for some bullpen help that would scare me more than just trading for Holliday.
