2009-05-22 Brewers (Parra) at Twins (Slowey): 7:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 11-3]

I would imagine they are going up there hacking - Slowey doesn't walk many at all

No, but you still have to make him throw pitches. The Twins bullpen is much less than good.

The Brewers pulled this crap with Carlos Silva a few years back, and he threw like 75 pitches in a complete game win. I know you don't want to fall behind 0-2 all the time, but you have to try to see a few pitches.

Manny Parra just drives me nuts. I think I actually like Suppan more then him. I don't know what it is, when I see his face I just see a guy who looks clueless.

You give Jeff Suppan Manny Parra's stuff, or you give Manny Parra Jeff Suppan's brain, and you have one of the best pitchers in the game.

Separately, they're just blah.

The thing I cant stand about Parra is how he nibbles like he is Suppan or Doug Davis. Those guys nibble because they have below average stuff but Parra has well above average stuff especially for a lefthander. He really is not enjoyable to watch pitch at all.

Very true, too bad neither will probably ever have what the other has and needs. Well we know Suppan will never have the stuff, it's just to bad that Parra will probably never have a brain.

I'm probably wrong, but I think it's easier to take a guy with great stuff and teach him how to pitch than it is to take a guy who knows how to pitch and teach him stuff.

You can't teach stuff like you can teach "how" to pitch, IMHO.

My point? I don't think Parra's a lost cause.

Manny Parra = Sergio Garcia, to go outside teh world of baseball.

Raw physical skill, still questions about mental makeup and a pretty firm split amongst the fans in terms of who likes him, who doesn't, those who believe that he'll break through and those that think he never will

I hear what you are saying, but at the same time besides the pitch Cam K'd on they have been swinging at mostly good pitches and hitting them hard. Kendall excluded because he is a DP waiting to happen on the carpet

I guess I don't see them hitting baseballs hard at all. There have been a couple, but not overwhelming.

Just as I type this, Hardy laces a double to the gap. Me = Stupid.

That is a great analogy. I'm in the camp that neither will ever break through. But that is just me.

Hardy out with a back strain. Awesome. Hopefully it is only a couple day thing instead of something that lingers.
