2009-05-20 Brewers (Gallardo) at Astros (Rodriguez): 7:05 PM CDT [Brewers Lose, 6-4]

Can someone please explain THIS chain of events:

Houston - Bottom of 1st SCORE

Yovani Gallardo pitching for Milwaukee

K Matsui grounded out to catcher.

M Bourn walked.

L Berkman doubled to deep right center, M Bourn scored.

C Lee grounded into fielder's choice to third.

H Pence grounded into double play, second to first, C Lee out at second.

Isn't that 4 outs? Someone said something about a play by Bill Hall, and someone else said something about a free out. What is going on?

bill hall through the ball to second base and didnt get the out. i think thats what play they were talking about

The free out was the Astros gave the wrong lineup to the umpire before the game. Bourn hit first, out of order. Therefore Matsui is automatically out, and Bourn must hit again. He eventually walked. Hall made a bad decision and tried to get the out at 2nd when there was no force play and Lee was safe.

Is anyone else watching on time warner's HD in the Milwaukee area? My picture seems to be kind of twitching and I'm not sure if it's from the TW feed or the new HDMI cables I hooked up a few days ago. Thanks

I only just tuned in at the beginning of the 3rd, but from what I've seen, the guys are seem to be seeing the ball well against Wandy. Just can't string together hits. Braun and Fielder were fairly close to getting us on the board this inning.

Was worried this might happen with Yo tonight. Just not good to be down that long, and the guys just can't seem to get over teh hump offensively. Keep it close and whittle it down and see if you can't get into the pen.

Anyone else feel like we are "just missing" against Wandy? He doesn't appear to be all that sharp either and it seems like if he doesn't settle in we will have our shots against him.

2 hard hit balls for Casey and a fine defensive play. I think with more regular AB's he will be fine. And a BOMB by Cam!

Every pitcher has a stinker every once and awhile, and this was a tough match up to begin with considering how well Rodriguez has been throwing to start the year.

On a side note, I really hate that freaking train whistle after every Houston run.

ugh another mcgehee start

why?

Who would you start over him? Counsell vs a lefty? Weeks is hurt...

The Bill Hall/Craig Counsell platoon should be moved to 2B. I don't know if I'd even want McGehee out there over Hurricane.

So lets just say, I'm not a fan of Casey. I think him getting significant playing time is the worst possible option.

He deserves a shot. Iribarren is also left handed. I'm not so sure Bill Hall would be happy about moving positions. I don't see the harm in sending McGehee out there to see what he can do.

It's only 1 game so I'm not trying to make to much of this but I think McGehee proved he deserves a chance to play.

Thanks for making me look bad on not tagging up there Casey.

The Brewers didn't eat their Wheaties today. All the big hits, except for Cameron's, are just short of the wall.

If this is how Wandy has pitched all season, I don't get how his ERA is so low. He hasn't looked like he's been fooling many hitters.

Looks like the proverbial white flag is being waved...Jorge Julio in. At least I can take solace in the fact that the Cubs are struggling to hit a Cards team the Brewers knocked around earlier this week.
