Great interview... both Todd & Brooks. It's awesome that the Toolshed nickname is official.

Posting on fansites, you always wonder how much of what's being discussed is actually read by the players. It's very cool to know so many of the guys on the team know about the site, and even cooler that you could join us, Brooks. I think it's safe to say you were one of the few bright spots we had during some of the leaner years, and even though things are going very well on the field now, you'll never be forgotten. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Well guys, there are a lot of my old teammates that I played with that had the talent to play in the major leagues that did not get a chance. The late Mike Coolbaugh was one of them. I played with him my last year in Round Rock. There are numerous others but it all boils down to getting a chance and having someone in your corner. As far as the stadiums that I liked to play in on the road, the ones that I liked most were Minute Maid field in Houston and most of the new ball parks were awesome.

Kind of ironic that I was #55 on the thread. What up! I knew I felt some karma on this website.
I don't know...the Brewers are 0-1 since we 'called you up.' http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

It's too bad they took all the joy out of being an athlete who also engages in unhealthy behaviors. To me, it made it all the more impressive when professional athletes smoked in the dugout or in a football locker room and still kicked tail. As a chain smoker, perhaps I have an unusual fondness for this.

Great to see you on the site Brooks!

I was at a game in 2003 or 2004 where you hit the snot out of one to right field for a homer. Greg Maddux had started that day for the Braves, and we got hammered all game. It was something like 9 to 0 when you hit that, and the crowd left their feet. It was the only thing going for us that game. Thanks!

Great interview Todd. . .And Brooks, you seem like a terrific guy. Kudos to you on that.

To me, this feels like baseball might have been back in the 1950s and earlier, with players living in the neighborhoods, playing stickball with the kids and working as bartenders and car dealers in the offseason. Cool stuff.

Didn't Brian run into 3TO at a bar last year during lunch?

That was a big moment...but the Toolshed interview and follow up may have just passed that as the biggest Brewerfan to Mancrush episode in site history.

Welcome aboard Brooks. My wife is a UT grad too...she says to tell you "Hook 'em Horns!!!"

I would be happy to answer anymore questions that y'all might have.

You talked about how great you thought the fans here were. Some on this site think the fans here are now too quick to "boo" our own players. As a player what did you think/feel when the home fans booed you?

...or since I'm sure that never happened to you http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif, do you think it has an impact on the performance of players who this has happened to? Also could it affect a player's desire to sign or not sign with a particular team?

As far as chugging a beer in the on deck circle I would have done it if they would have let me. I will have to do that when I get back to Milwaukee some time.
I'll buy! Great interview, I was stoked when Todd facebooked he got it done. I never had a chance to get yer autograph. Maybe now I can do this through the mail?

To everyone one on the site, I want all of you to know that I everything I said came from the heart and that I would love the opportunity to be involved with the Brewer organization and the city of Milwaukee again some day. Those 2 years spent in Milwaukee made me realize why I love the game of baseball and what it stands for. Hope y'all enjoyed the interview and I would be happy to answer anymore questions that y'all might have.

Thank you for your time in Milwaukee, as well as taking the time to interact with the commenters here at Brewerfan.

Here's a question for you: As someone who remembers the MLB expansion draft, what was that process like? Did Tampa Bay know that you were interested in pitching when they drafted you, or were they looking for a hitter. (Obviously, being in the AL, the pitcher/pinch hitter concept has less value when you can do either one or the other.)

Do you feel that baseball teams do a disservice to two-way talents (pitcher and hitter) by forcing them to focus on one role, or are players like Rick Ankiel and yourself exceptions to the general rule?

On a side note, how are we not the sponsors for Brooks' baseball-reference page? I think we should devote a portion of the donations this year to securing that piece of internet real estate in the name of Brewerfan...I'm sure we can scrape together 10 bucks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
