2009-05-18 Brewers (Looper) at Cardinals (Lohse): 7:15 PM CDT [Brewers Win, 8-4]

Gamel has hit lefties better than righties in his minor league career, so I don't like the move because it took an ab away from him with a 4-run lead. I would've let him hit and then brought in Hall for defense.
My thoughts exactly. I'd love to see Mat get lots of ABs so he can get up to speed on big league pitching. Especially with the Weeks injury.

In my opinion, it is less about the situation in this game and more about Gamel.

Does one AB make all that much difference? I don't know, but that's my line of reasoning.

I think it's a little questionable to leave Villanueva in to face Pujols after what transpired last season. We don't need anybody to invigorate them. I'd rather see lifeless corpses and relaxing transition to the flight to Houston. We should win anyways due to the cushion, but why risk it against one of our top division rivals?

that was looking a little hairy there in the 7th, but SWEEP! I wonder how the Cards feel about us completely owning them in new Busch. Miller Park Southwest?

Anyone else noted there was no cheer in St. Louis for Kendall's 2000th hit. Remember last year when Randy Johnson got a big strikeout (I think it moved him into 2nd place?) at Miller Park...he got a nice ovation from the crowd. Kendall...nothing. I thought these were baseball's most knowledgeable and classy fans?

The folks over at NSBB really don't think much of Braun as an OF. I know errors aren't the end all be all;, but he has yet to make one in his career at LF and for the most part has been a very serviceable outfielder. I mean is he really worse than Soriano? Sori throws out a ton of runners but he routinely looks awful trying to field balls.

Overall a pretty good day on the field. Gamel showes some good offensive and defensive skills but still struggled with a basic play at third. If it weren't for the error I would be super pumped about Gamel, now I am only moderately pumped.
