yeah looking forward to seeing what he can do at 3rd. Its a perfect game to put him in, as the twins are starting 2 straight lefties and we have already won the series.

Gamel has hit lefties slightly better than righties in his career so far.

From the JS blog:

Craig Counsell takes over as the leadoff hitter in place of injured Rickie Weeks and rookie third baseman Mat Gamel is getting his first big-league start tonight as the Brewers play their make-up game against the Cardinals.

Counsell starts at second against RHP Kyle Lohse and Gamel is batting seventh. With the Brewers apparently preparing for a long absence by Weeks, they had Gamel out working early at third base and Casey McGehee at second.

That might mean we're looking at a 3B platoon of Gamel and Hall and a 2B platoon of Counsell and McGehee. Gamel and Counsell bat from the left side; Hall and McGehee from the right side.

With two lefties coming up in Houston, look for McGehee to play at second base.

Haven't gotten an update on Weeks yet but you just get the feeling it's going to be bad news.

Here's the lineup:

2B Craig Counsell

SS J.J. Hardy

LF Ryan Braun

1B Prince Fielder

CF Mike Cameron

RF Corey Hart

3B Mat Gamel

C Jason Kendall

RHP Braden Looper

According to the Cards Clubhouse fan site link provided in the first post, Lohse is hitting 8th tonight. Looks like LaRussa's trying everything in his book to shake some offense out of his injury-crippled club:

Schumaker, 2B

Stavinoha, RF

Pujols, 1B

Duncan, LF

Molina, C

Rasmus, CF

Barden, 3B

Lohse, P

T. Greene, SS

The Cardinals are pretty giddy right now at the news about Weeks. I hope the Brewers make them pay, and show they won't be set back by one player going down.
Giddy? I can see "grimly satisfied," but giddy? Stay classy, STL/Cardinal nation.

They might want to consider that Rickie didn't help the Brewers win on Sunday.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I only have it in SD for Dish Network as well, I was just coming to check and see if others had a similar issue.
