Houston Scouting Director and former Brewer crosschecker Bobby Heck grabs long-time farmhand, now 25-year-old OF Freddy Parejo.

Remember 2B Alejandro Machado? He was briefly on the 40-man at the end of 2003.

July 10, 2003: Traded by the Kansas City Royals with Wes Obermueller to the Milwaukee Brewers for Curt Leskanic.

March 29, 2004: Sent to the Montreal Expos by the Milwaukee Brewers as part of a conditional deal.

The Mets signed Machado to a minor league deal.

I'll always remember Machado for a play involving two other former (at that point future) Brewers while all three were on the Red Sox. Gabe Kapler was on base when Tony Graffanino hit a homer, but Kapler tore his Achilles while he was rounding the bases, and Machado pinch-ran for him mid-trot.

Normally we don't "report" on each and every independent league transaction involving former Brewer farmhands (we'd all be overwhelmed), but we do like to mention when recently released Brewers find homes in the indy ranks.

RHP Josh Wahpepah is a Kansas City T-Bone of the Northern League, with details in this press release.

Indians Prospect Insider ranks Rob Bryson as the Tribe's 46th-best prospect:

During most of the time Bryson was rehabbing his shoulder from surgery

he was only topping out at 88-89 MPH, but his arm strength slowly

returned and by the end of Instructional League he was sitting in the

low 90s and topping out at 94 MPH.

...

Bryson is officially off the rehab list, which means he has no

structured throwing sessions or any restrictions on what kind of

pitches he can throw so he will be able to throw his slider and

changeup at will right out of the gates this season.
