Just figured I would update what some recently traded Brewers are doing

Will Inman - Recently promoted to AAA. AAA stats have not been as pretty as AA but he only has 3 starts. 15 IP, 12 ER, 23 H, 6BB, and 16 K.

Michael Brantley - BA .249, OBP .332, OPS at just .676. He has stolen 15 bases in 17 chances.

Matt LaPorta - Recently got sent back to the minors after hitting under .200. He has very nice AAA numbers with an OPS of .994

Darren Ford - Still in High A ball batting .226 with an OBP of .358 and an OPS of .680. He has only stolen 7 bases in 13 chances.

Steve Hammond - In AAA 4.91 ERA and WHIP around 1.45 or so.

Inman had put together a great AA season so we will see if he gets it going in AAA. He struck out 9 Sounds when they played which was a bright spot. The WHIP around 2 is rough but again small sample size. Brantley continues to lack power but at 22 he is still young for AAA. His base-running ability continues to impress going up levels. LaPorta will benefit from more consistent playing time in the minors. His callup was probably a year early. Ford and Hammond are both struggling this year with Ford being one of those guys I used to follow a lot who could not put it together.

Rotoworld:

Padres activated RHP Mike Adams from the 60-day disabled list.

Adams hasn't pitched at all this as he recovered from off-season shoulder surgery. He was 2-3 last season with 10 holds in 65 1/3 innings. He also had an impressive 1.04 WHIP to go along with 74 strikeouts. He will provide a boost to San Diego's bullpen and may work himself into the setup role for closer Heath Bell.

Padres optioned LHP Joe Thatcher to Triple-A Portland.

Thatcher had a 4.50 ERA, 1.63 ERA and five strikeouts in eight innings pitched since being recalled in mid May.

Part of this may have been an 18-inning game the Padres had Sunday in which Thatcher allowed two runs in the 6th.

Rotoworld:

Rays signed RHP Jorge Julio to a minor league contract, and assigned him to Triple-A Durham.

The Rays dumped Chad Orvella to make room on Durham's roster. Julio began the season with the Brewers, but was released after posting a 7.79 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 13/15 K/BB in 17 1/3 innings. It's hard to see him fitting in with the Rays, but we shall see.

Paul Bako has been called up by the Phillies. This is his 11th team in 12 seasons.

Joe Thatcher has been recalled by the Padres.

Claudio Vargas is pitching with AAA Albuquerque on a rehab assignment.

The Indians are also giving up on Luis Vizcaino, designating him for assignment. Greg Aquino, dfa earlier, was outrighted to AAA Columbus.

The Mets have called up Elmer Dessens, who had been the closer for AAA Buffalo.

The Mets also released catcher Javier Valentin from the minors; Javier was a Brewer in name only, acquired prior to the 2003 season from the Twins along with Matt Kinney, but dealt away that spring training to Tampa Bay for the infamous Jason Conti.

Sorry to see it didn't work out for Patrick Ryan with the Mariners --

RHP Patrick Ryan has been released from his Minor League player contract on Thursday. Patrick made eight starts for the Diamond Jaxx on the season and a total of 16 appearances. As a starter, Ryan was 2-5 with a 6.75 ERA. The 26 year old Ryan was in his first season with the Seattle Mariners. Ryan was a Triple A Rule 5 selection by the Mariners this past offseason from Milwaukee. Ryan was a mid-season Southern League All-Star last year for the Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, the Huntsville Stars. Ryan was 5-5, with a 2.52 ERA last year for the Stars in 39 relief outings.

Things have not gone well for Will Inman in AAA so far. In 8 starts he is 0-3 with an ERA of 7.27. In 43.1 IP, he has given up 56 hits walked 16 and struck out just 30. In 5 of his 8 starts he has given up 5 or more runs including 22 in his last 4.

After his hot start in AA I am a little surprised by the numbers. I figured I would see how he was doing given our lack of impact arms in AAA and with Jeffress suspension.

Released last season and now back after a stint back in independent ball, the Mariners' Jack Z. picked up infielder Jimmy Mojica and placed him all the way up onto their Double-A squad at West Tenn. He went 3-for-4 in his first game there this weekend.

No offense to Will, but I'm glad he's not lights out any more. At a time when the Brewers are looking at replacing starters due to injury and ineffectiveness, it feels better not having a former farmhand who was traded away looking like he could have fit the bill. It makes me feel better about the Linebrink trade

You have to wonder if Inman is going to get sent back to AA. He gave up 4 runs in 5.1 innings tonight. He gave up 10 hits and walked 2, he did strike out 5. I am guessing he will get sent back to AA to refind his form. Will has never been hit like this, so I am guessing there are some mechanical problems for him right now.

I thought I would check up on Michael Brantley. He is having an interesting season. He has played a lot of CF of AAA this year which is encouraging since it was unknown if he could stick at CF. He has 31 steals in 34 attempts. He has any many walks as strike outs, but an OPS of only .665. He does have 3 home runs which is almost his career high (4).

The big part of the CC trade Mat LaPorta is having a good year in AAA. His OPS is .873 which is lower than I would suspect but I would guess he struggled a bit after getting sent down following his brief call up.
