2009-05-17 Brewers (Parra) at Cardinals (Wellenmeyer): 1:15 PM CDT [Brewers Win, 8-2]

Ennder your staunch support for Manny is well known. I think the reason he frustrates many of us so much is that he has the potential to be so good. And for me most of the pitchers between '90-'00 didn't frustrate me as much because typically the expectations for the team weren't real high

And I think the comment after the Molina AB probably stemmed from how Manny has had problems in the past - not just from the 2 AB's in that inning

It isn't support for Manny Parra, I could care less about him over any of our other pitchers. Just like I spoke up in Suppan's defense when people were going crazy over his bad start. Just like I spoke up in Bush's defense when he was having a bad stretch that was almost pure luck. Manny Parra is our 2nd or 3rd best starting pitcher, I just don't get what frustrates people except them reading a bunch of things into every single walk or hit he gives up.

Brewer hitters should be ashamed of themselves that inning. You can't let a guy off the hook with a 5 pitch inning when he isn't throwing strikes and has 60+ pitches through 2 innings. That was just terrible.

What happened to the great approach our hitters had the first two innings? Wellemeyer had 63 pitches in two innings, keep working the count and get deep into that bullpen. A 6 pitch inning isn't going to do that.

Probably the fact that he has amazing stuff but yet still has a hard time getting deep into games

He does have issues the third time through the order, I don't disagree with that at all. But that isn't what people complain about in general. Most young pitchers have the same problem as well.

I didn't want to start a separate IGT for this game, but you should check out the Cleveland-Tampa Bay boxscore. Zobrist and Longoria were both pegged to start at 3B, with nobody starting as the DH. The umpires determined that the Rays would lose their right to the DH, forcing pitcher Andy Sonnanstine to hit third.

Thanks Gorman. This is exactly why Parra frustrates me so much. He has all the tools but he seems to not have it between the ears yet the way Gallardo does. That is why he is so frustrating for me to watch. I love the guy and think he will be good, but right now he just makes me curse at the TV to much.

And of course Ennder pitchers between 93-2002 frustrated me to, but most of them didn't have the stuff Manny Parra has.

That is nuts. I can't believe Joe Maddon let that happen!

He just hit a 2 out RBI double too.

How does any major league Manager let that happen? Any of them?! Especially a good one like Maddon. That is nuts.

Bill Hall, you're killing me. Just killing me. Manny Parra earns his way on base without taking the bat off his shoulder, and Bill Hall hacks at the first pitch. After he watched the pitcher take the sixth (sixth!) Brewer walk of the game.

Dale Sveum and Ken Macha need to tell him to not even think about swinging until he's seen a few pitches. Hall is single-handedly extending this guy's outing.

I just hope that Macha sits Hall vs RH close to fulltime before the end of the season. Even Yost eventually figured out that Hall is not an every day player. He could probably get by playing every day at SS somewhere since you don't expect much offense out of that position but not at 3B.

Hall is probably pissed that he is losing playing time again. I'm sure that we'll be hearing about him wanting to be traded again soon. But really he won't play more on any other team. Because you can't hit .200 or worse against righties and expect to not be in a platoon.
