Brewers To Sport Road Jersey saying "Milwaukee"?

Crew2323
I also like the retro logos. I also don't see them as holding onto the past, as much as clinging to a classic and elegant logo. I go to UW, and I see FAR more retro logos than current ones. I doubt many of the other college kids are hanging onto players or an era we were never a part of. The simple fact is it is a more popular logo, which has been shown several times

I don't have any issue with the retro logo (though I'd like to see more use of the even more retro one http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif), it is the wearing of specifically the 1982 jerseys on the field. The reason is not the uniform, it is that it is expressive of the attitude of looking back to the 1982 team. If some fans want to contemplate that WS team it is fine, but constantly putting the team on the field saying "look, this is the uniform that the team that went to the WS wore in 1982" has just gotten overdone.

can see I'm in the minority so far but I like the retro uniforms. I don't think it hurts anything if they wear them twice a month at home. I don't see the big deal in changing the uniform from "Brewers" to "Milwaukee". Are there people out there that would be less of a fan because they live in a different part of the state and the uniform said Milwaukee? Get over it, they are the Milwaukee Brewers. I don't get it. They can wear a T-Shirt and jeans for all I care.

I didn't notice anyone getting bent out of shape in this conversation. Also, if putting "Milwaukee" on the away jersey isn't a big deal, what's the big deal leaving "Brewers" on the away jersey?

Actually, wouldn't they be more likely to put the "Milwaukee" on the gray jerseys only, since the dark blue ones are used at both home and road games?

I'm pretty sure some teams (Minnesota comes to mind) do have an alternate home and away jersey, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Brewers do this as well if they do indeed move forward with this idea.

This is my biggest point as well. I too don't have a problem at all with the retro logo, but again I ask, why is it so important that the players on the field wear them? There is so much retro merchandise available (as noted by BillHall02 mentioning that more fans wear the retro logo gear than the new stuff) that any fan can adorn himself with the old stuff if the new stuff doesn't appeal to you.

To me, it has also somewhat taken the novelty out of the retro look. Have a turn back the clock promotion once a month honoring all of the different team looks (including the Milwaukee teams prior to the current Brewers) from over the years (including the 90s look, and that goofy future uniform they came up with a few years ago).

I believe that is the source of the gentleman to the left http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yeah, sorry. I was tired. I know that no one was getting bent out of shape. I think somewhere in there I was trying to make the point that you made about it not being a big deal. As long as they're playing I'm happy. I almost think the "problem" is that the Brewers have too many cool uniforms/logos. The Milwaukee Bears look is cool, the ball and glove logo/retro uniforms, their current uniforms, I even like their barrelman logo. Tough to keep everyone happy.

i love the idea of having milwaukee on the road jerseys i always liked the milwaukee bears unis that they wear once a year i think... something like that but more of a present brewer look would be pretty cool i think.

Retro stuff once a month is a good idea. It's not overkill, a lot of the fans like it, and why not celebrate the greatest logo in the history of logos a few times a year?

I'm all for the "Milwaukee" on the road jerseys. The team isn't called the 5-County Area Brewers.

Here is a little mockup on how I would like the brewers road alternate to be. I think Atlanta's road alternate is best in baseball, mine is inspired by that.
I think Atlanta's alternates are terrible. They look like batting practice jerseys or t-shirt jerseys.

The Brewers should have a game where they wear Milwaukee Beers uniforms.

For Wisconsin residents outside of the five county area, would you prefer the team stick with Brewers? Does it make it more of a "state" team?

Personally, while I'm not that worried about the Brewers leaving at this point, having Milwaukee on the jerseys makes the team feel a little more permanent.

I prefer the city name on the away jerseys(i live in walworth co), it's more old school.

Yeah, I live in Fort Atkinson, and having "Milwaukee" back on the road jerseys wouldn't really cause me to lose much sleep. They're still "my team" either way. It's not like I'm not aware I'm driving to Milwaukee to see them play a dozen or more times per year.

At least they have the Milwaukee patches on the jerseys now.

i know its not a fair comparison, but the packers have a "G" on their helmet and not a "W" and they are still a state team. I find it interesting that the brewers don't mind putting a "M" on their hat and doesn't have "Milwaukee" on their road jerseys.

Personally... I would REALLY LOVE to see the Brewers wear the old Pilots unis.... I think those uni's have only been worn in Seattle in '68.
They wore the Pilots unis in a Turn Back the Clock game in MN against the Twins. I don't remember if they were the plain gray flannels or the powder blue, though I'm thinking it was the blue. It was the first game I ever took my wife to, so I'm thinking it was the summer of 2000.

But I don't know that they've ever worn Pilots unis at home.

Edit: The more I think about it, the more I think it was the grays. And I think Alex Diaz played in the OF that day and made a good catch. Off to baseball-reference.com to see if my memory's on track.

Edit II: Oops. Wrong year for the Alex Diaz recollection. But I was right: June 10th, 2000. Jimmy Haynes started & went 7 in the Brewers' 5-3 win. (I don't miss Haynes.) Twins & Brewers both wore 1969 replica unis.

Yeah, I knew they wore the Pilots jerseys at least once. I'm sure the Bears jersey will be an annual thing since MLB likes doing the Negro League tributes.

I hope we don't get a Milwaukee Braves day again...it just looks weird seeing "the Braves" vs the Braves.
