The sky is black. It might be a good time to delay the game and get the tarp on the field before it starts raining.
Per Telly, that's what the grounds crew wanted to do, but the umps wanted to wait for the rain.

Ummm, wish the ground crew got their way.

They shouldn't have even bothered starting this game, and that 2 run homer will end up not counting.
The radar is really filling in north to south. This one may not resume for a long while.

I'll give the grounds crew credit, they got the field covered in a hurry.

It looks like its going to rain for a long, long time. The front is really slow moving, and stretches down to Texas. I think it is safe to say they are not coming back out. Too bad Macha didn't have a meteorologist handy, he could have thrown out Julio for two innings.

It was so dumb that this game didn't get cancelled. Now we wasted Yovani for no reason at all. He could've just started tomorrow. Now he won't be able to pitch until probably Tuesday, and that messes up the rotation. I just don't understand the reasoning behind starting the game at all.

I smell TLR headgames on this one. He doesn't care if he loses a Lohse start. He would be more than happy to see YoGa get skipped in the rotation.

I might be wrong, but I think teams control whether or not the game gets played - then hand the authority over to the umps.

Approve what? Until the game starts the home team is in charge. After the 1st pitch the umps are in charge.

Edit: I was wrong, the home team's in charge until the lineups are exchanged.

So... is there any chance at all that they can continue this game from the 2nd inning as part of a double header? how is this determined? I've seen it before, and I've also seen a game called in the 7th and that's that. how does that work?

Yeah, I guess so.

I thought maybe the home team would have more say.

I guess I'm just taking my frustrations (that the game is delayed) out on TLR.

I still have the audio running and Telly said off-air that nothing would happen until at least 9 pm

I think this is right on target, at least the head games part. I don't trust Tony L. very far at all.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

At this point, I think it could be called a No Game and be replayed entirely, though I could be wrong. The MLB Rules for this are pretty confusing.

sorry to be a dissenter I guess, but...

this Tony conspiracy theory talk doesn't swim, and projecting any frustration on him is fruitless.

it would have been a lot easier to have internet access in the visitor's clubhouse (now that, is maybe something we can be mad at), look at the weather and start Villy or McClung than it is to manipulate a crew of umpires plus the paying public. and it wouldn't be an issue.

rain delays bring out idle thoughts.

So, if not another pitch is thrown tonight, does anyone know what will happen with the game.. (and the 2-0 score)?

I believe the game continues with the same score at a later date, however, if this game was to be finished tomorrow the game tomorrow night would only be seven innings.

Unless rules changed in last 5 years on this, the game will cease to exist and will start from scratch at later date.

Based on the radar there is just no way they are going to be able to play tonight, just postpone the stupid thing already (And preferably restart without the 2-0 score.

Wasn't it a couple years ago where opening day in STL got rained out in the 4th inning and the 4 inning were wiped off of the books?
