When will TLR order the first beaning?

Recommended Posts

Braun or Hall. It will charge up the crowd and get under the player's skin/in their heads. Game 1 too with Gallardo on the mound, I think, in hopes that it will keep him from throwing inside. I hope The Crew reacts better to TLR's mind games under Macha than they did under Yost.

If TLR does I hope it is the first game. Teams don't get a shot at retaliation in the same game since the umps warn both benches. I wouldn't but it past LaRussa to wait until game three to bean someone. If he does wait I hope they have McClung ready to go anyway. He seems to be the designated beaner the last couple years. Makes sense since his fastball has to hurt the most and his reputation as wild gives him some cover as unintentional.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

And seriously, who is going to want to mess with Big Red if he throws at them?

I trust Macha and the maturity of this team to move beyond TLR's mind games.

But if there is going to be some shenanigans...I say we start it. Let's start Big Red on Friday and have him fire his first pitch into the press box at Rick Horton. Then he can untuck his uni as he's led off the field by the umps and security!!!

If that was the case SoCal I would expect nothing less from Big Red than handcuffs and state trooper escort. Maybe the national guard. Then next time LaRussa shows his courage safely from the bench his players will tell him to stand in the batters box instead of them.

Thanks. I just spit coffee out my nose.

Maybe someone can equip Seth with one of those things Bernie Brewer shoots t-shirts out of in between innings in order to really get some momentum up to the press box.

I agree that I wouldn't expect Macha to fall all over himself to get into it a la Nedley, but I still somewhat expect to see some kind of shenanigans this weekend.

I just got a hilarious picture of this in my head, and how amazing and fsunny it would be if this were to happen!

Which brewers would we want to represent us in a brawl?

I would say the top few would be McClung (obvious), Cameron (obvious, hes listed at 205# but I mean come on) and then im not sure. A gut reaction may be prince because of obvious reasons but I think he is soft. Another good choice would be Coffey. If we are looking for a scrappy guy who could hold his own against a bigger man I have a feeling about Kendall, Bush or Weeks. I would say some wild cards would be Julio, Hart or Rivera who are bigger but Im not sure how they would do. Also it would be fun to watch Counsell vs David Eckstein.

No mention of Bill Hall? The guy is jacked. Kendall looks like a guy who's been in a few fights in his life, the Brewers as a whole would not be a team most teams would want to scrap with. Also the Counsell v. Eckstein idea is awesome.

Here's what I would do. If Cardinals hit a Brewer hitter and the benches get warned, then I get McClung up in the pen. When Pujols comes up to hit, I move Gallardo to RF, and bring in Seth to pitch to Albert. Of course everyone in the park will think McClung is being brought in to plunk Albert, including Albert. But with Albert up there ready to duck, McClung throws him 3 straight fastballs and fans him, then leaves the game and Gallardo goes back to pitching.

Don't sleep on Prince. He might be squishy, but that guy seems to have a lot of anger in his soul, and he'll throw his weight around. I would not want to be the guy to tick him off.

That's the funniest, most awesomely unlikely scenario I have ever seen purposed on this board. And I would love it if it happened.

Not to get too serious in the middle of this important discussion, but Im pretty sure you are not allowed to re-enter the starting pitcher on the mound if he changes positions.

Prince Fielder is most definitely not "squishy." He may have a few extra pounds around his middle, but he's a monster.

Bobby Cox did it last year with a reliever... not sure if the rule is different with starters. But you are also then losing McClung for the game... and you are losing Corey Hart for the game in the switch.

Still a funny scenario though.

Oh, and if we could set up two fights (ultimate or boxing, I'm not opposed to either) between Counsell and Eckstein... and hold one at each of our ballparks, and the teams split the profits from ticket sales... we could stand to make a fortune. I think this idea needs some more development.

We've seen it happen before topper. I want to say it was in the late 80's early 90's though. The pitcher went to first base for 1 hitter.
Im pretty sure that only applies to a relief pitcher. I think the starter cannot re-enter as pitcher to avoid the little league tactic of using your ace agasint the top of the order and resting him for the bottom so he can face the good hitters more often. I think I remember Bobby Valentine bringing in some lefty to get an out, putting him in LF for a righty and then bringing him back in for the next lefty and I seem to remember an explanation that this would not be allowed for the starting pitcher. I cant find a mention of this in the rulebook so maybe you are correct.

OK, I think the guy I am talking about is Chuck McElroy (remember the glasses) with the 1999 Mets. In one game he came on to pitch and then played LF for the backup outfielder Matt Franco who then pitched. McElroy never came back in to pitch but I think this may have happened another time when he did re-enter although if the other guy did not record an out there is no record of McElroy playing at another position so it will be tough to find. The link is to the game I mentioned above:

Another argument for waiting another week to bring up Mat Gamel... I think having Brad Nelson on your side in a brawl would be beneficial (no comment regarding the odds of making solid contact with a swing though)
