Playoff Tickets (latest: 2008 renewal + '07 postseason refund information sent to season ticket holders)

I would not count on an automatic refund. Season ticket holders have the option of applying the charge toward 2008 tickets. The Brewers are scheduled to send 2008 renewal information out next week (week of October 8), and based on my interpretation of the letter they sent about a week before the '07 season ended, season ticket holders who want all postseason money refunded will have to specifically request it. (I do not have the letter on hand at this time.)

If you were able to order playoff tickets without being a season ticket holder, the terms may be different, but I would not expect anyone to get an automatic refund.

I remember one of the statements in the letter was that if you renew your season tickets by November 15th, you will receive an "exclusive gift". Otherwise they are not due until Jan 15th (or something like that). I wish they were a little more clear on the "exclusive gift". Is it a patch or paperweight or something like that? If so, I'll wait until January.

You do not pay interest on a card with a $0 balance, as long as you don't let it cycle a month. If you carry a balance, you pay interest the second you charge something, as it goes by your average balance.

I have never heard of the "waive the interest" thing, but it makes sense, as many states have laws that you would think would prevent interest from being collected in that manner.

As for your credit rating, it is usually best for your credit rating to have high credit limits, no debt, and no late claims. I have read many people say the best way to increase your rating is to apply for a card, then cut it up upon receipt, so you are not tempted to use it...if you ever need it, they will always reissue it.

I am not an expert on how teams operate, but I think it would be wise for them to give a credit of 101-105% of what they paid, depending on money spent and/or how long they've been a season ticket holder, or an immediate refund on 10/8.

One of the gifts the past 3 years is taking BP at The Keg. The ticket people have to get permission from other departments in order to do this. It may just be that they haven't gotten permission yet for next year and are waiting for the go ahead before actually anouncing it.

The BP thing was/is for full season seat holders who paid in full by an extra early date. For a few years, partial season seat holders could play catch in the outfield if they renewed by the extra early date - which we did once and found reasonably interesting.

It was a hot day when we went, and before the end of our alloted time, we started exploring as much of the park as they'd let us. Somewhere I have a picture of me using the Brewers' dugout phone to call the bullpen. I imagined myself being Ned Yost calling for a replacement for Doug Davis. Yes, I am a nerd among Brewer nerds.

Given the knowledge level on this website, at least some of the rest of you probably knew that as soon as you pick up the dugout phone handset, the bullpen phone rings. I was surprised to find this out, but stayed on the line long enough for my picture to be taken.

I also used the Brewers bullpen bathroom, just so I could say I did. It had unisex signage, so I figured it was OK. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif

But I digress. One episode of playing catch at MP was enough for us, and I hope the 'exclusive' gift is something else.

I got this e-mail as a lottery winner:

Thank you for purchasing tickets to the 2007 Postseason in anticipation of the Brewers earning a berth. By now you are aware the Brewers will not be participating in Postseason play. As such, we wanted to send this email to share information related to refund of Postseason payments for individual games.

Your refund for the purchase of individual game tickets for the 2007 Postseason will be processed and complete by October 10, 2007.

Your refund will include the full ticket price that you paid and any per ticket fees associated with the purchase. Per order fees for handling and mailing and print at home fees will not be refunded. Please refer to the original confirmation e-mail that you received when you purchased your tickets for specific details regarding the price that you paid for your tickets and the refund amount that you will receive.

?? Yeah, obviously you don't pay interest when you don't have debt ($0 balance). However, if you charge the tickets to a card that has a $0 balance, then that card no longer has a $0 balance. And if I charged the tickets on August 29th and got my bill on Sept 25th and it's due on October 10th....then if I don't pay off my balance by October 10th, I'm going to have to pay interest. I think this is what you are saying by "as long as you don't let it cycle in a month." But again, whether you purchased the tickets on a card that originally had a balance of $0 or not, you have to pay it off when it is due, otherwise you are charged interest.

You are correct Patrick, but it takes really bad luck to have that perfect cycle. You do not pay any interest if you pay it off. In a case like you described, you might owe something on interest, though minimal, as your refund will prevent interest from accruing for any amount of time.

  • 2 weeks later...

I wish they were a little more clear on the "exclusive gift". Is it a patch or paperweight or something like that? If so, I'll wait until January.

Our season ticket renewal information arrived in Friday's mail. Here are the options for 'exclusive gifts' if you pay in full by November 15:

Full-season accounts:

Option 1 - Meet Prince Fielder at an exclusive Season Seat Holder event this spring, where you will receive a bat personally autographed by the Brewers slugger.

(one autographed bat per paid in full account. You can purchase additional bats for your seat partners by contacting the Brewers)

Option 2 - Receive a $60 food and beverage credit for each seat held on your account.

20-game, 40-game and Terrace Ticket Treat accounts:

Option 1 - Meet Brewers stars Yovani Gallardo, Corey Hart, Carlos Villanueva and Rickie Weeks at an exclusive event this spring, and take home a ball personally autographed by one of these young stars. (One autographed baseball per paid in full account. You can purchase additional baseballs for your seat partners by contacting the Brewers)

Our invoice asks us to rank the four players in order of autograph preference.

Option 2 - Receive 10 single-game .300 Club passes for each seat held on your account.

When applicable, the invoice includes a credit for postseason games not played.

You can renew online at brewers.com, but you can't request a refund online (you mail in the invoice for that). The material says to allow 10 days for credit card refunds and 30 days for checks.

Other points of interest (to me at least) in this mailing:

- Season ticket customers will get a complimentary media guide again. Huzzah, says hawing.

- The all-fan giveaway dates are on our game list:

Sunday, April 6

Sunday, June 1

Sunday, June 22

Sunday, July 6

Sunday, August 24

Sunday, September 7

Of course, it will be much closer to the start of the 2008 season before it's known what the giveaway item is for each date.

Edit: I also noticed this morning that the Winter Warm-Up is January 15 and the Brewers On Deck event is March 30. I assume the Winter Warm Up is the thing not open to fans.
