Cardinals TV announcer calls Brewers disrespectful

apirk
Tony LaRussa's version of the alphabet

"T, U, V, V, Z, T, U, V, X, Y, X, Z"

Your post is better with the video:

Since I personally believe the new 0.08 limit is excessively low, and Tony blew 0.093, which is below what had been the limit until quite recently, I think he probably was mostly just tired, as he said (of course he should not have been driving, given that he fell asleep in an intersection).

But, and I can not believe no one has pointed this out, I think his untucked shirt was very disrespectful to the arresting officers. I really think they'd have let him go if not for that.

You have to be pretty tired to fall asleep at an intersection without any chemical enhancement. I think it more likely he was more than .093 when he fell asleep than it is he was plain old tired. If he really was that tired then I don't know how responsible it was to drive anyway. But I do agree the current level is pretty low.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

How can you look at LaRussa trying to walk the line and say that .08 is "excessively low?" Nobody near that state should be anywhere near the wheel, especially if he really was "tired." Better safe than sorry when you're combining alcohol and 2 tons of moving metal.

Anyway, yeah, the Cardinals and their fans suck. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I think if a person is driving at that level it isn't all that high. When he blew the .093 it was well after the time he was actually driving. I've never been through the process so if I'm off base please correct me but I think he had to go through some amount of processing before he actually got a BA test.

Can you be so tired that you forget how to recite the alphabet?

It's not just the blood alcohol level....people who drink a lot can appear completely sober at levels high above the legal limit. It's quite likely if Tony was struggling with the alphabet with a BAL of .093 that he just doesn't drink to excess much. A light drinker can appear sloshed at the legal limit whereas a full blown drunk can down a 12 pack in an hour and appear fine. In short, Tony may be a rank amateur who couldn't survive the Maple Leaf parade at La Crosse's Oktoberfest.

From Jack Clark on the Cards postgame show (Referring to Trevor Hoffman)..."What a class act he is. You don't see him pulling his uniform out at the end of the game 'cause he respects that uniform that he's wearing."

This show was live from a casino...now that's class.

Do these guys realize Mike Cameron started it? Do they even have a clue? I mean, Cameron is a veteran player, and generally a very well talked about and highly respected player around the entire MLB. Are they saying Mike Cameron doesn't respect baseball and his uniform? They're just untucking a shirt...they're not taking it off and twirling it around, or kicking dirt on an opposing team uniform. These guys need to get a life and maybe look at why the Brewers are beating them. It's not due to the fact that some of their players untuck their jerseys after winning a game.

I agree. I've taken a few classes in law enforcement on running the intoxilyzer machines certification, etc. A few guys have to get verying levels of drunk on the last day of the class so that we can test out the equipment etc. I'm not a big drinker, but I did a moderate level of drinking and blew a .044 or so and there was no way I'd even attempt to ride a bicycle anywhere let alone drive a 2,000 pound machine. .044 was enough to render me useless, I can't imagine double that.

The Cardinals are extremely close to becoming my most hated team. It irritates the heck out of me that they don't even bother to find out the reason behind the untucking of the jersey. They just automatically assume we are doing it out of disrespect and can't handle the fact that we are actually a pretty good team.

I really hope (obviously) that the 'crew might sweep this series. The 3 wins would be nice, but better would be the Cards understanding that they are not as good as Milwaukee.

What they are is too cheap to shell out for a roof. Real baseball fans would have done whatever it took to ensure that the game would away go on.
If I could make 1 rule change, its this: The home team is responsible to provide a venue to the each game, as scheduled, or forfeit.

After seeing the pics of Cameron with the Mets and hearing about his "untuckin" with the Mariners, I think it's safe to say that the Cardinals are a team just trying to find something to complain about, and probably know they're outclassed talent wise. Nothing more, nothing less.

I just traded jabs with a cards fan on Twitter. Said fan claimed that "no one buys the after work untuck your shirt thing. and if we did, you untuck it at home, not at work." really? you don't buy a tribute to your father? wow. st. louis. you are really, really a miserable bunch of sots.

Tolerance is huge. My girlfriend literally has been unable to stand up after one beer. Meanwhile, I can be 6 beers in and have very little trouble playing darts and pinball (the only tests of coordination I have much experience with in both states). Tony obviously is either a lightweight infrequent drinker, or had an illness or something at the time to prevent him from reciting the alphabet.

Back on topic, I get that St. Louis fans are reputed as very knowledgeable and dedicated, but that puts you in no position to be whiny etiquette police for the rest of the league. It's not like they haven't had their share of hot dog players.

Wouldn't it be great to see the broadcasters untuckem after the game as well? Come back from commercial and there's BA and Schroeder doing the recap with their shirt talis out. Let Rick Horton really lose it.
