Movies coming to Miller Park

Jaws is not a bad choice, but Anchorman? Is that really big screen worthy? Don't get me wrong it is a fantastic movie, but I'd rather see something that would be a fun big screen movie. Although, I'd rather have all baseball movies, that's just me. You know, like Field of Dreams followed by Major League, with live commentary by Uecker. Now THAT would be awesome!

I'm a little iffy on the price point considering those are all movies that have been readily available on video for years and it seems unclear to me if you can bring in your own food, grills, etc. or not. If you can bring in your own stuff, that does tilt it in the direction of a pretty good deal to me and a potential nice use of the parking lots when they'd otherwise be sitting idle.

Most of those scheduled movies are not exploitive enough for a drive-in though. Other than Jaws, that is.

Don't forget, this is also the home of Harley-Davidson. Many of the "biker" movies from the 60's & 70's are perfect for the venue. And many of them are so bad, that they're good.

Considering how often Anchorman is quoted/referenced on this forum, I thought you guys would be all over that movie selection.

Given our distance from Milwaukee, I don't think this will be workable for us, since we're kind of past the age of all-nighters. But if I lived closer, I'd be pumped about the Sandlot/Major League set, at least.

Seems it would be smart for the Brewers to allow tailgating. I can't imagine they'd search vehicles for other carry-in food.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Yeah, Anchorman sticks out. (Watch, it will be the best attended.) I'd think something like Airplane! or The Naked Gun would fit better though.

Edit: Considering its Jaws parody opening and its Milwaukee connection, I'm really surprised that Airplane! wasn't the natural pairing with Jaws.

Unfortunately Midnight bookings rarely show exploitation films anymore, relying more on 80's films and modern favorites. Anchorman especially is a big midnight draw and I'd expect it would fare best out of the four listed. The price point does seem high, hopefully they do allow grills or this otherwise great idea could flame out pretty quickly.

Yeah, this isn't going to pass any kind of "cinema purity" test. I'm sure we could think of plenty of fun ideas for this format (50s sci fi double feature, for instance), but I can understand this general family format. Heck, they'll probably make more money this way. They really should try to get Star Wars, though.

After the extreme depth of familiarity with Major League (shown by so many of you in a thread earlier this season), I think we should have a special Brewerfan screening of that classic 1989 baseball flick.

I'm surprised baseball movies are being talked about being screened here and no one has mentioned that they would want Eight Men Out. I love that movie and think it would be a good fit for the setting. Also Bull Durham would be at the top of my list

Jurassic Park and I second the Star Wars suggestion for movies I would like to see added I wouldn't mind seeing Independence Day also even though I never really liked that movie all that much.

I love drive-ins! Used to do it all the time as a kid and I am making a point to do it more this summer so this is awesome to me. I just bought tickets to the June 6th one.

Here is a link for those who want to take a closer look. It does say you can tailgate "just like you would at a game." This seems like a great deal. Maybe I just love drive-ins.

Got our passes for June 6th today. Really excited about the drive in experience at the stadium. Seems like the best off field idea in foooorrrreeeevvvvver!

not sure if I'm more excited for the Sandlot or Major league. The GF has already instituted a "no quoting every line before the say it" policy that I think I have to disagree with on those two movies.

Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

Anyone know if this is going to still happen, even with the bad weather tonight?

Last night (friday) was tons of fun. A lot more people and cars than I expected. The parking lot lady told me around 250 presold and over 100 drive-ups. It looked like loads of people tailgated and listened to the game before the movie started.

I arrived after anchorman started, but was able to get a decent spot to watch. Try to be straight on or you will have a support cable in your view. I was parked way over by the sausage haus, and I never really got used to that cable.

The screen is on an inflatable frame. When the wind kicked up late in the evening jaws took on a look similar to the "fish eye cam" they sometimes use at the ball park.

If you're staying for both it sure does get late. I enjoyed a nice nap during the mid portion of jaws. Still and all, lots of fun.

I picked up a FAQ flyer during our last trip to the ballpark. The answer to "What happens if it rains?" is as follows:

The drive-in will remain open, rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather (heavy downpours, lightning or wind gusts of 35 mph or more) which prohibits the playing of less than one-quarter of a single featured film, the movie screen company will select a make-good date, at which the passes for the original date will be honored.
Sometimes I wish we lived closer to Milwaukee. I'd love to watch Major League at Miller Park with a bunch of Brewers fans.

It was a good time last night, although a little chilly. Aside from the sound issues (the movies were being played WAY too quietly -- with my boom box's speakers at full volume, we could barely hear either one, where as at 25% volume, people 50 feet away could hear Uecker when we listened to the game before hand).

There were more people there than I expected, although about half the people left after The Sandlot was over -- combination of kids, cold, and sleepiness I'd imagine.
