Duke Nukem Forever will be never -- developer closes doors

I wonder what went wrong with it to take that long. I mean, with Chinese Democracy the long delay made a bit more sense because music is music. Sure, CDs have been superseded to some extent by MP3/4s but it's basically the same. With video games (especially PC games), the systems are constantly changing, which would seem to make such a long development time totally impractical.

As huge of a fan of FPS as I've always been, I preferred Doom & Quake to Duke Nukem. When we'd bring our computers together and game it up, DN got the least amount of run, we'd maybe play it for an hour or 2 at most, and we'd go from 8 AM till people couldn't stay awake anymore. I never really understood the appeal of the game.
