Unfortunately, the Brewers are asking for too much according to Juan C. Rodriguez's source. They want "something big" for him.

"Something big" probably equals "something fair", but it turns into something "big" because teams know he wants out.

How exactly would the two teams match up? Are we going for AA prospects, or, as the Marlins call them, their starters? I could see targeting one of their young stud pitching prospects, however. Isn't their AA staff the most prospect-laden in baseball?

I'm gunning for Hanley Ramirez. I bet we could get him for Capellan.

I'm guessing Melvin probably wants a pitcher with some potential. Probably a AA or AAA guy who is close to being major league ready.

This was just on ESPN radio...SportsBash.

When Florida inquired on the availability of Jose Capellan the Brewers reportedly asked for minor league pitcher Ryan Tucker while the Florida Marlins only were willing to part with a lower prospect or current bullpen member Matt Lindstrom.

Well if it is a lower prospect OR Matt Lindstrom, I think it is pretty self explanitory what they think of Lindstrom. I don't know much about them but it is the first real substantial rumor with names regaurding Capellan.

Looking at tucker and Florida's other prospects, i think i'd want more or somebody better than tucker. it's funny to read that another team believes melvin is demanding a lot in return for Capellan. and then i see the name tucker, and i ask myself, "that's a lot?" he hasn't eve n pitched a t the AA level yet and his stats at single A were not overly impressive. at least Capellan had great AA stats before we traded for him.

Tucker may have the most upside in Florida's deep system of pitching. He is only 20 years old with a very good fastball. I could understand why Florida would hesitate to accept this offer. It would be entirely different if Capellan had different results in the bigs.

Pitching stats in the minors aren't all that important, as young pitchers are working on their stuff more than trying to win.

I dunno about that. K/9 and K:BB are good predictors of success....I agree that ERA and wins are probably immaterial, but there are things you can look at and see if a guy's going to be decent at higher levels.

I guess taking two days off without telling the Brewers is really going to help Melvin trade him, huh? This moron just doesn't get it.

And he's probably not that far from a spot in the pen, either. Aquino blew up, Dessens hasn't been too effective. Everything many of us said previously - just go down, pitch your way back into shape and everything will take care of itself!

If it wouldn't leave a big hole in our depth chart, a torn ulnar collateral ligament could be kind of funny......

Ok, I'm kidding on that last note.....sort of

Capellan is just complaining his way right out of the major leagues. Demanding a trade publically reduced his trade value, going AWOL is probably going to make other teams now think twice before drafting him, and all his complaining isnt really giving us much of an incentive to call him back up. Way to possible screw your career up Capellan.

Also, I noticed today that the ESPN Insider Rumor was about Capellan again. If someone could summarize that story that would be great, but I have a feeling that it doesnt really have anything that we havent speculated on yet, or already know.

So, with the crummy pitching from Aquino of late, any chance Capellan gets called up soon?

We'll know a lot more about how unhappy the Brewers are with Capellan's antics if they call up someone other than him. It'd be pretty telling if they called up Sarfate or traded for another journeyman.

It's nothing you don't know already. Potential partners are Marlins, Giants and Rockies. Melvin saying they aren't going to give him away for $.50 on the dollar.

Melvin got Capellan to be his closer of the future. You ride Cordero but you keep Capellan.

The spanking of Capellan has been administered for coming to spring out of shape and not ready to pitch.

Now the secodn spanking for behaving like a spoiled 4 year old is being administered.

Capellan will contribute before the season ends.

He is a very valuable player and to trade him for a bag of spare parts would be stupid. Melvin isn't stupid.

Capellan didn't make the team because he had a poor 2006 and was outpitched by Aquino in spring training. It had little to do with teaching him a lesson. Now Capellan is pitching in AAA the way his major league numbers would suggest, and thats pretty pedestrian.

I highly doubt he'll pitch in Milwaukee again, as he's not even 1 of the top 5 pitchers in Nashville. He is a complete disappointment, but luckily he has been passed by better prospects.
