May 11th is an off-day, does Parra get skipped?

obobo55

Parra pitches Wed the 6th. His next start falls on an off-day. Do they skip him in the rotation this one time?

Tue, May 5 @ Pittsburgh 7:05 PM Suppan (1-2) Snell (1-3) Tickets
Wed, May 6 @ Cincinnati 7:10 PM Parra (0-4) Arroyo (4-1) Tickets
Thu, May 7 @ Cincinnati 7:10 PM Looper (2-1) Owings (1-3) Tickets
Fri, May 8 Cubs 8:05 PM Bush (1-0) Wells Tickets
Sat, May 9 Cubs 7:05 PM Gallardo (3-1) Dempster (2-1) Tickets
Sun, May 10 Cubs 2:05 PM Suppan (1-2) Marshall (0-1) Tickets
Tue, May 12 Florida 8:05 PM Tickets
Wed, May 13 Florida 8:05 PM Tickets
Thu, May 14 Florida 1:05 PM Tickets
Fri, May 15 @ St. Louis 8:15 PM Tickets
Sat, May 16 @ St. Louis 1:10 PM Tickets
Sun, May 17 @ St. Louis 2:15 PM Tickets

That would give us Looper, Bush, and Yo against the Fish. Suppan, Manny, and Looper against the Cards. Not really weighing in one way or the other on this as I think Manny will be fine. I do have tickets to the game on the 12th though so I am interested to know who will be pitching that night.

I thought that I read somewhere earlier tonight that all 5 were going to get an extra day of rest since we'll have played 20 games in 20 days prior to the 11th. I can't find the article now though, but I don't think I'm making it up. I also can't remember where I read it, so it may be false info anyway.
Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

Skipping Parra at this point would just be idiotic, I sure hope they don't do it. He finally had a good game where he was throwing strikes, skipping him just makes him start over again in my opinion.

I read the same thing. I think it was the article on brewers.com on Rivera hoping to be healthy by 5/14 to come off the DL and start on Bush's turn in the rotation since all the starters would get an extra day with the off day next Monday.

Giving every starter the extra day rest will pay off more down the line than skipping one guy, especially Parra who has more trouble finding his rhythm than any of the other guys. Parra is 26 and 5 years removed from surgery. He can't be babied any more. They need him to deliver.

Yes because nothing will help the Brewers more than having Parra "man up", overwork his arm and miss huge amounts of time going forward.

endaround: It's not about "manning up"...he is perfectly healthy at this point (unless I've totally missed something), and given that the "ace" of this team is 23 years old, every starter has to deliver what's expected. He's not a young rookie anymore.

That said, I don't have any problem with him being skipped on a start here or there, when the schedule dictates.

I'm not saying he should be skipped but the idea that limiting a guy's innings when he's never pitcher 180 innings before isn't babying him, its being smart.

I don't disagree with this in the long run but assuming Parra doesn't completely fall apart in his next start he is just getting his control and skipping him would not be a good idea right now. Also we have 3 starters who have never gone over 200 IP and 1 that has only gone over 200 one time in his career, so probably just giving them all an extra day off would be a better move.
