Play Pretend Doug Melvin for a second...

Pretend Major League Baseball was a big Fantasy League...

If the New York Yankees called hypothetically and offered Alex Rodriguez but wanted Ben Sheets and a player...um Bill Hall? Would you do it?

What if the Twins called and offered Johan Santana but wanted Rickie Weeks, Bill Hall, and Gallardo? Would you do it?

No real reason for asking other then PTI today, Kornhieser asked Wilbon about what it would take for the Yankees to part with A-Rod if they don't get a new deal done before the end of July...one of them said Santana...that was my motivation.

Absolutely not.

Tougher but with his impending free agency I'd probably say no.

If A-Rod were signed for 3-4 years, absolutely I'd give up Sheets and Hall for him. A-Rod could easily hit 60 a year in Miller Park, but as Al points out no way do you trade for 1 year of A-Rod

No chance

If, in the hypothetical A-Rod deal the Brewers could somehow nix his opt-out option I still don't think I would be thrilled to do it. I don't know if the difference between A-Rod at third and Hall at third is big enough to make up for the loss of Sheeter. Granted it is only, roughly, 2 years of sheets but still, ehh, I wouldn't want to have to make that decision.

I thought it funnier that my Schaumburg friend would do a "A-Ram and Zambrano for A-Rod" trade with no reluctance but when asked if he would go "Rich Hill and A-Ram for A-Rod," he completely dismisses the thought. Now I understand the economic ramifications of trading Hill, but they are far from a middling franchise.

That is not difficult at all.

No!!!!!!

Our CF, 2B and best pitching prospect in a decade for Santana. He only can pitch once4 every 5 days and he not only is going to be a FA but he has broken down twicw in the last three years.
