J.J. Putz?

That's why i would go after weathers- especially if the reds tell him thanks but we're going to go with Guyardo as our closer now. the reds signed hermanson in the off season to a minor league deal and announced they thought he would be their closer. he didn't make it out of Spring training.

Going after Weathers makes a lot more sense and is closer to reality than this Putz idea that is floating around here. Weathers will not come for a bag of balls though.

Inman is a guy I could see us moving to get some bullpen help. When you have a chance to make a deep run, you move some of the future to better your chances. Like it or not he could be the teams best chip at the trading deadline.

I'd much rather see Zach Jack go, though I'm not exactly sure how much value he'd have.

Jackson + Mench for Weathers/Other reliever?

EDIT: I'm not the biggest fan of Weathers though, he's not what he once was.

Zach Jack has really leveled out over the last year. He has great rise into the upper levels, but now he doesn't have the great stuff to be dominating. Brewers will have to add something with him to get a dependable guy.

Weathers is durable and knows how to get outs so, I don't see any issue adding him to the pen.

Last season, Weathers' K rate was down and his BB rate was up. He kept a respectable OBP because his BABIP was .237.

If he had his career average BABIP last season, he would have allowed 18 more hits and it would have raised his WHIP from 1.29 to a bad 1.53.

So I'm somewhat hesitant to expect him to "save" our pen.

I'd like to trade for weathers, but i see a glaring need for a crafty lefty.

that's why i suggest we should think about trading for Guardado. he's about 1-2 weeks away from returning. The Reds already have Stanton. if you take away his first half stats with Seattle last year, he has looked great for the past 7 years. he's got good control, and has had good success in pitching in several hitters parks.
