Capellan for Milledge

If Capellan chooses not to report and forces a trade I wonder if this would be a good fit. Milledge has been overrated IMO in the past but he is only 22 and certainly has the tools to become an all star. Menchkins could both be gone next year and Milledge could be ready to step in then. The mets are looking for pitching and he is blocked with their recent signings.

If you think he's been overrated you might also think he wouldn't be able to outproduce Jenks/Mench at this point, I don't think he would be much of an upgrade at this point.

That and the fact that it would take way more than Capellan. If the Mets would do that deal then hell yeah I'd want him, but I don't know what the hype is about this guy... yet.

I'd stay away from all NY prospects. They keep the good ones and deal the rest.

Sure, you have your David Wrights and Jose Reyes' of the group. But you also have literally a ton of young guys that are overrated by the NY media.

The Yankees told everybody that would listen that D'Angelo Jiminez was their big prospect and Soriano was behind him on their depth chart. They got way too much for Jiminez and put Soriano at second base. The rest is history.

Brien Taylor? Paul Wilson? Bill Pulsipher?

If they are willing to deal Milledge and start Alou, Lastings isn't our answer.

I don't think it is as cut and dry as that. I think all scouts in baseball know how good Lastings Milledge is, and it's important to remember that the Mets are in win-now mode, and were drooling at the opportunity to have one of the best everyday lineups on paper when they acquired Alou this past offseason.

Basically, they aren't willing to be patient with Milledge, and would rather have him be as ready as possible next year so there is less of a learning curve when he becomes an everyday player. Aren't Alou and Green only signed through this year anyway? Milledge could still very well be a big part of the Mets plans.

The guy turns 22 tomorrow and has 500 ABs between AA and AAA, so some more AAA time isn't going to hurt him. The Mets aren't going to come even close to giving him away, as it will take more than Capellan, as others have noted. Milledge definitely is a player that I would call about, as I'm sure Melvin already has, as Minaya is one of his protege's.

Capallan should be moved to TB for some of thier young Players

Cappellan for Cantu would be very logical. Similar age and career production, both not needed by there present teams but would fill needs for there new team. Cantu as a 3B is similar to Graffino, but with some breakout potential. Theres no chance Graff becomes more than he is.

TB desparately needs a reliever. Cap could be their closer if he wanted to be.

Cantu could provide a 3-4 month stop gap at third until braun arrives. the guys i really want are upton and/or baldelli. but that's not going to happen.

Casey blake would also be a nice value for cap. Blake can play first, third and outfield.

or to houston for Loretta. houston's relievers are not looking good. I think Loretta would be a great fit. We could throw in graffy.

and were does he play then?

That's easy.

He allows us to trade Shrek this year and we decline Jenkins' 08 option, allowing him to play LF full-time starting then.

And we can then take those millions that were gonna gonna go to Jenkins and pay them towards, oh, Ben Sheets or CoCo, for example...
