Heh, he'll be stuffing his pockets with free candy bars before he heads back to Nashville.

Well, hopefully he has a good uneventful stay up in Milwaukee!

I remember Jenks saying that they pay 75$ a day for all of the stuff they get. If thats what your talking about.

I know this isn't what this particular thread is about but I was always under the impression that the players were given a daily stipend to spend on food in addition to their salary. Not that they paid for the food they were getting in the clubhouse. How does that work?

The clubhouse dues are different, that's like when the equipment manager runs an errand for you type stuff. It supplements their salary as they aren't paid all that much.

I wonder why it's so different in MLB clubhouses than the NFL? The equipment guys in the NFL are compensated pretty well, I always thought the MLB setup opens the door for questionable behavior, I wasn't surprised at all when what's his name from NY got implicated in the steroid probe.

Great news for Carlos Corporan. I like to follow guys in the organization that are below the radar and Corporan's surely been that since he started in 2003. In fact, I'm sure someone can correct me, but is he the first Brewer to have reached the major leagues without once being listed on the Power 50? The other guy I can think of is Chris Barnwell, but even he might have been 40 something at some point. Not that Carlos hasn't deserved being in the top 50 on his ability to gun down baserunners alone. While his offense has never been great, it's never been embarrassingly awful either especially for a defensive catcher and what I've noticed is that when he repeats a level, it always improves the 2nd year.

Players are given daily money on the road. It's around $75-80. However, both home and away, players pay the clubhouse manager (home or away) roughly $30-35 per day. That covers all of the services and all of the food (usually two meals, drinks, snacks, etc). Many will leave significantly more per day, perhaps $50, which goes into the tip pool to be used for clubbies (and himself) at the clubhouse manager's discretion.

Congrats to Carlos. He's a great guy and he will be a MLB catcher. I don't know if he'll be a starter, but he will be at least a MLB backup catcher. He also isn't old or anything. Carlos is only 25 years old and my bet is if Salome isn't ready next year for the bigs Carlos will be the catcher in Milwaukee.

The spread/dues topic probably deserves its own thread, as it is fairly interesting. Todd Jones wrote/writes a column for TSN, and this subject was addressed here: http://www.sportingnews.c.../viewtopic.php?p=1993347 Per the piece, players get $84/day, only on the road. He says that most guys pay the clubhouse manager $50/day, both on the road and at home, while the big guys pay up to $150.

I believe that any errands that are run are expected to be tipped on top of that.

I'm impressed because I was sure he was topped out as an all glove no hit organizational soldier that never had a chance, so here's to everyone having a shot at the dream. And he just might make it into the career back-up role since he's done it once. I'm interested to see if he can reach an Blanco/ Ausmus level of offense.

Blanco was pretty atrocious offensively when we had him but I believe brought his hitting up a bit the past five years or so ago. Beyond this year, you wonder what the near future holds for the Brewers. Do we try to sign Kendall for another year as the starter? Does he accept being a backup in Milwaukee? Does Rivera get a chance to start? Is a good year by Salome in AAA give him the starting nod next year? Is Lucroy the guy we are waiting on and thus need another year of a stopgap?

I believe it says somewhere in the fine print of the CBA that players called from the minors receive road stipends for 15(?) days, even for home games. I don't currently have access to that document, so I can't link it or verify it.

I'm reading through the CBA, and if I understand correctly, players sent down or called up receive their $85+cost of living adjustment road "allowance" for his first seven days after the transfer, regardless if his new club is on the road or not.

All players get the $85 and change every day the club is on the road, including travel days.

I'm not sure how they home clubhouse food is payed for.

Congrats on the callup, Carlos!

With Salome and Lucroy in the system, I don't know what the future holds for him in the organization, but hopefully he makes the most of his opportunity.

For his sake... I hope the Brewers really bust open a game here in the near future and Corporan gets a chance to get a few at bats... just in case this really is it for him. Good for him though.

The 2004 Beloit Snappers team produces yet another big leaguer. Wouldn't have ever imagined that team producing anything. Has produced MLBers in: Corporan, Dillard, Stetter, Drew Anderson, Rottino, Villanueva, Iribarren, Eveland, Gallardo
Pretty sure Ty Taubenheim pitched for them that year too--I think he played for the Blue Jays for a while after the Overbay trade. He's in the CC Sabathia Brewers' family tree! A cousin to Bushie!

Must've been something in the Domenico's that season! I caught a few games that year there.

Great for Carlos, but I doubt he will have much of an opportunity to play. Thankfully, it seems that Kendall is figuring some things out at the plate and getting better ABs.

Congrats to Carlos Corporan. I stated a few years ago that he would someday be a big league backup, and here he is. I would prefer Corporan to other backups like Koyie Hill or Paul Bako.

Corporan is very good defensively, and he's become more patient at the plate. Hopefully he can become a latebloomer at the plate and earn a bigger role here.

I fully expect Corporan to get the start catching Bush on Sunday. I'l be there, and I'll give him a big hand.
