How to Get Hardy out of this Funk

Hardy just needs a slump buster. Ask Mark Grace for a definition....
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Hardy was hitting the ball well when the season first started. It just seemed he was hitting it right at people. When he wasn't getting results, he started pressing. He started slow last year, then took a few days off to get the shoulder in order. He hit the ball well his first game back and never stopped until the season was over. Take the whole weekend off if that's what it takes...spend the time with the trainers. He'll be fine.

Its one thing to allow Bush to pass through waivers, its another to let Hardy go through waivers. I don't see it happening

While I realize Hardy won't and shouldn't be optioned, he does have 3 options remaining. Bush had to clear waivers because he was out of options.

Bush had an option as well. He had to clear options because it was 3 years after he had been added to a 25-man roster. Hardy would also have to clear waivers. Link

There is a rule rarely invoked in baseball that creates a situation where a player who has options remaining still has to clear waivers to be sent on an optional assignment. If the assignment is to begin at least three full calendar years from the date of the player's first appearance on a 25-man roster, then the player can not be sent on an optional assignment without first clearing major league waivers. These waivers are revocable, and players usually clear those waivers without incident.

I stand corrected. It now makes more sense now how Bush made it through waivers, as if he would have been claimed the Brewers simply would have revoked.
