Anundsen has a pretty good game going through 7 2/3, if anyone's interested.

Edit - Through 8, now.

Yeah, you all REALLY need to listen to this (you need REAL player). It's nice that the Manatees scored in the 8th in a previously scoreless game.

To the bottom of the 9th we go!

NO-HITTER EVAN ANUNDSEN, Yee-Hah!

That was a great listen.

Anundsen walked one, hit one batter, and survived two Brent Brewer errors. Amazingly, one of those errors came with two outs in the 9th, on a pop-up behind short towards the left-field line that clanked off Brent's glove while he fought the sun.

Evan then struck out the final batter, the ball scooted from catcher Anderson Delarosa, who made a shaky throw to first that manged to get the runner.

Anundsen struck out ten, got 11 groundouts, just wow. Don't know what the pitch count was, but it had to be up there.

MiLB.com has to figure out how to get that audio archived for the kid, even if it was the Daytona Cubs' announcers.

We'll remind the Brewer front office to pursue such an audio archive with the Daytona radio station if MiLB does not.

We're actually fortunate this was against Daytona, one of only a tiny percentage of games that are available via audio for the Manatees all season.

Regarding the audio we heard, what's odd is that MiLB.com does not even list the Daytona feed on the new MiLB.com audio page.

But I had remembered that Daytona had always broadcast each game in the past, so to start the season, I sought out and found the audio link from the radio station site.

So if Evan's friends and families listened live today via the Link Report, I'm honored to have been of assistance. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

The Brewers should fly Evan up to Milwaukee this week between starts to be honored.

Congrats to Anundsen! 10 K's with 11 groundouts? No wonder it was a no-no http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
10 K's is a ton for Anundsen isn't it? He really is not a huge strikeout guy. I wish I would have checked this sooner to listen in. Congrats to Evan.

Anundsen has been unreal so far this year. Could he blow up like sinkerballer Trevor Cahill did last year? Is his stuff that good?

I'm also curious about Anundsen. Anyone have a scouting report? I imagine sinker/slider/change guy, but any additional info would be appreciated

From Bernie's Crew

Evan Anundsen

Born: 5/17/1988

Height:6'3"

Weight: 200 lbs

Throws: R

Anundsen put together a pretty good season with the West Virginia Power, going 12-8 with a 4.28 ERA. He has a very heavy fastball that works in the lower-90s or higher-80s, which allows Evan to induce tons of ground balls -- his GO/AO ratio was a very impressive 2.71. To go with that fastball, Evan throws a pretty good curveball and a changeup. He mostly relies on his fastball, however. His strike out rate is a modest 6.3 K/9 and will likely stagnate as he progresses up the system, so his upside is rather limited as a starter. The right-hander's success completely depends on his control, which is normally quite solid. His BB/9 rate is a respectable 2.4 and his HR/9 rate is a very good 0.5. Anundsen makes his living on the black and letting opposing hitters pound the ball into the ground. At the lower levels, it is effective, but Evan will need to keep his home run rate down as he moves up the minor league food chain.

There are some reasons to be concerned, however. Evan really struggled down the stretch -- posting a 4.76 and 6.35 ERA in July and August, respectively. His ground ball rates were fairly solid during the months, but his walk rate increased. The late-year struggles can probably be explained by a pretty extreme jump in innings pitched, however. In 2007 with the Helena Brewers, Evan threw only 77.1 innings. That number jumped to 145 innings last season. His arm was tired, and his mind was most likely fatigued after his first full season in the minors. It will be very interesting to see how Evan progesses next season in Brevard County. Will he struggle like he did in July and August, or will the right-hander revert back to his early-season form he showed in 2008? At best, Evan projects to be a fifth starter or a journeyman swing starter in the majors.

POTENTIAL: C

CHANCE OF REACHING THAT POTENTIAL: B-

PROJECTED ARRIVAL: 2012

OVERALL: C

Jim's Ranking: 25

Interesting comment about his K-Rate, as he's struck out lots of batters this year, although small sample size warning applies, obviously.

Wow congratulations young man... yesterday I'm in the office following all of the happenings, today I'm on the road and miss this. Lame for me, great for Anundsen.

Is he projectable? Not in the Jeffress sense, but worst case he's probably a Suppan type... If he maintains his K/9 as he moves up he'll do well.

edit. sometimes my grammar is just horrible.
